    Brisbanes worst enemy

    Toughest opponent?

The Sydney Swans and West Coast both have positive records against the Lions over the past 2-3 years. Which do you fear most?

    Sydney
    83%
    West Coast
    17%

this is off the brisbane website..... sydney are the most feared opponent of the lions

Here's something interesting, of all the sides in the comp we have one of the best records at the Gabba. We don't win there particularly often, but we have the best record against Brisbane as far as aggregate scores are concerned.

    6 games
4 wins to Brisbane, 2 wins to Sydney

    Aggregate scores at the Gabba
    Brisbane 78.79 (547) Sydney 81.61 (547)

No other side has held Brisbane to a "draw" like this at their home ground. Against all other sides, Brisbane has outscored them on aggregate.

The Brisbane Bears played their home games at Carrara for the first few years.

At Carrara, we are 2 wins and 3 losses, nothing much of note here.
At the Gabba, we never beat the Brisbane Bears (3 losses).
Even at the SCG, we are only 4 wins 4 losses.

Our record against the Brisbane Bears was just about the worst in the competition, only Fremantle and Fitzroy had worse records. Then there's a LOT of daylight to Richmond, the next team:
        Code:
Teams with the worst records against the Brisbane Bears
Team Games Wins Losses Win %
        1. Fremantle 3 1 2 33.33
        2. Fitzroy 17 6 11 35.29
        3. Sydney 16 6 10 37.50
        4. Richmond 17 9 8 52.94
A small note: Our record against the Brisbane Lions is actually worse - 35.71% from 14 games - but our recent record is excellent.

Until the two H&A victories last year, had it not been something like 7 years since we'd last beaten the Bears / Lions anywhere? I remember that fantastic win against them in 1996 that signalled the start of the great run against top teams but I think that might have been the last until 2003.

We beat the Lions twice in 1998 when they won the wooden spoon.

Other than that, prior to 2003, the last win against a Brisbane side was in 1996 against the Bears.
