Can you trade a Life Member ?
There's no way that he would be considered for trade. Mick is like the back-bone structure for the club ! Besides, his chronic knee (and hamstring) injuries wouldn't be very appealing to a prospective club ...

I had considered trading him a possibility, but on further reflection have decided it would be a very bad idea

He has the X factor that could win the Swans a premiership, players with his matchwinning ability don't come along very often.

Also draft picks are overrated at the moment, everyone thinks that if you get a top 10 pick, that its going to be another Chris Judd

In any event i'd say it's the furtherest thing from Roosys mind

to win a premiership you need at least a couple of matchwinners and some luck. if our luck comes in the form of micky giving us the better part of a top year and performance in the finals, we might just get one.

Micky O'Loughlin is a huge part of the reason I began liking the Swans in the first place, and remains my favourite player today. Trade him and a little bit of my love for the Swans goes wherever he does. I would be more than heartbroken if he ever played for another club (it's bad enough that one day he'll have to retire!), but I know Roosy has said that the trading may disgruntle some members, so you never know...

MOL wont go - for all the reasons stated above. Given what Roos has has to say though, who will?

(I only discovered RWO today - I hope that this has not been a thread before)

Despite what Roosy has said I tend to doubt that any of our big names will be going anywhere.

If we do go after a big fish, I think our 1st draft pick will be on offer

At the trivia night, MOL was on our table and he did say a few years back he would have been happy to go home to SA if the right trade came along, but now he is happy in Sydney and would love to play out his career up here.

Having said that, a player's own sentiments often don't come into trades (the likes of sooks Gaspar, Rocca and Grant excepted).

                    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Mate, everything has been a thread before. We as a site have traded Goodes, Nicks , BoltonJ, Micky, Barry, Fissdike, Fixter etc. Williams is too old as is Maxfield, Warfe has been lambasted from pillar to post. Mathews is just plain no good, Doyle has copped a pasting of late, and before he was injured Saddo was nailed to the cross. We have also pushed up for rookies who nobody knows.

The upside is you get to have an opinion on anything Swans, and at times get a good old bake for having that opinion. It is all a lot of fun, but also far more informative than the media can possibly be on a day to day basis.

Welcome aboard and look forward to your posts. Don't hold back.

Thanks for the welcome. Who then should be bought? A ruckman seeing as Ball is old and neither Doyle or Mikeljohn are setting the world on fire, a big ugly full back, or a big name on-baller?

I think we need two things:

                            - a gun midfielder who can break a game open and cause havoc (eg: Judd, Black, Cousins).

                            - A solid centre half back (eg: Rivers, Maguire, McPharlin).

If a third option then a sizeable ruckman who is preferably quite mobile (eg: Everitt, Brogan).

If a fourth opportunity then a midfielder can generate lots of clearances (eg: Coughlin, Mitchell).
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

absolute crazy talk. i know i'm not alone, but i wear 19 on my sleeve(literally), and make no apologies for it.

i am not one for rating players by disposals, because, as good as they are, buckley, akermouthis, woewoeful etc, rack up a heap by running past a player who has marked and demanding the ball.....i digress........

at the weekend MOL had 9 disposals. (not many even for a forward) he rushed to take a free on the boundary line, which he had a shot with and missed. ok. there were at least two commited 1% inside 50 which kept the ball in,(and they don't show on the stats sheet), and i'm pretty sure he didn't waste any of the others. the handball to set up ROK in the third was of a skill level that only a handful of players can dream of attaining, and those two marks were.....well....you just expect that sort of thing from magic.

my point is, he is a matchwinner, continues to demand a key defender, knows how to leave space for others if we trade him someone has lost their marbles.(always plays well against brisbane too)

i know that one day i'll be telling my kids about this player michael o'loughlin and how lucky i was to see him firsthand.
                                fanboy post over.
