    The Three monkeys

Anybody see the interview with Pagan, Malthouse and Sheedy on Fox last night?
The three of them stated "the umpires are fair etc etc" the three of them repeated the same statement - having a go at Colless.
I nearly fell off the lounge - Hear none, speak none, see none ......bat talk about umpires?
What a farce - maybe I dreamt stupid malthouse's comments about Aliens????

Talk about rubbish out of Melbourne - or is the AFL superiors getting at them.

I am starting to feel there is a lot of 'dirty washing' going on at AFL headquarters.
    Love those Swans

Although the umpiring this year has been nothing short of disgraceful and the Swans seemingly getting the rough end of the stick week in week out I dont think a lot can be accomplished by the continual 'bagging' of umpires.

Im sure the AFL is well and truely aware of the problems with the umpires and will aim to rectify it as soon as possible. It is a lame excuse for clubs and coaches to use when they lose.

In regards to the AFL influencing what coaches say - it could not be further from the truth. Imagine the like of Malthouse, Sheeds, etc agreeing to publically state what the AFL wants them to - HA!

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Sheedy would have no complaints...they're making his year a Coach's wet dream.

Pagan was wanting a lift from the umpires for the struggling Blues.

And, Mick the opportunist felt it was time to get in on a little Sheedy warm feelin'.

I personally think the Umpires ONLY need to do 2 very simple things:

        1. Whatever the rules are, they need to police them consistently to every player and not exercise prejudice, not matter what their tribunal record is like or how ugly they look or whatever...

        2. They have to have complete discretion to ignore staging, diving or faking for free kicks. If umpires are paid to interpret other accidental or deliberate issues in the game, why is it that they don't have the instincts to make a call on stagers?

Now for the real problem with our game, the AFL and the Rules Committee:

IMO, the Rules Committee and the AFL are as much to blame for bewildering decision as the Umps. The holding the ball rule was a disgrace and the blame lays squarely on the shoulders of Kevin Bartlett and his committee for its introduction. I don't feel like it improved the game at all over the past 3 Rounds.

Then the AFL have to cop a serve too because the communication to clubs, players and the ticket buying public was negligent if at all existent!

I'm getting off now before I get my soap box kicked out from beneath me.

or was reminded by Mr McGuire that if Sydney say it's so then it's obviously not correct and as much opposition (as humanly possible) to the subject should sprout forth from their mouths .

The have to have complete discretion to PENALISE staging, diving or faking for free kicks.

Staging should also be penalisable under review as well with monetary fines to clubs for single blatent offences and personal fines and even suspensions for serial offenders.

i know it would be a diffiult thing to police for every occasion as sometime things do just hurt like blazes for 30 seconds and then vanish (for example) but the afl only has to enforce these penalties occasionally and people will straighten themselves out.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know
