    Swans V Carlton

Doing very well at half time - by gee I hope Doyle is not injured.

Goodes, Hall, Davis, Schneider (in his 1st game), hell, most of 'em are doing well.

    May it stay the same.

    Cheers.

Sorry mate its his knee and fosdike(hamstring) and maybe kirk(knock i think).

Well done to the boys and yes I was knocking J.Bolton and I guess I'll start eating some pie very soon if he keeps this fourm up(29 touches and some good skills).

      I HATE INJURIES.

The others injuries arent too serious, just doyles injury im worried about, it was a very inconspicious incident when it happened, but it seemed to hamper him quite a bit. Hope the big fella is ok, he was just slotting in nicely into the game.

I only hope Fuse (Doyle) is not injured - he is the 2nd or 3rd most important player in the Swans future in my opinion.

We played well tonight but I wouldn't think this is anything to go on with - but I hope it is!

          Cheers

            couple of things:

            -schneider - great
            -j. bolton - great
-c. bolton - played very tall and well
-l. barry - had a real good game, especially first quarter
-r. warfe - played ****, delist him now... his inability to take relatively simple contested marks astounds me, especially for his height... looked his best when standing on the mark
-b. mathews - couple of clangers early in the game which made me furious however when he went for the short option was heaps better.
-d. cresswell - had an extremely quiet game, i dont even remember him getting much of the ball... although it is listed he got 7 possessions... so the question is, is cressa finished or can we look forward for him to have a big game with the rest of the players playing positively?
-m. nicks - IS BACK! i thought he showed signs of being back into top from, i liked his game
-kennelly (my fav player) - ripped it up, showed some real slick moves
-j. ball - so glad to have him back
-j. crouch - played very positively and attacked the football well
-n. davis - channel eddie sucks! pass on my regards to eddie when davis single handedly beats the pies twice this year... i thought he looked good but i also he think he played within himself, looks like he has another level he can get to yet, maybe two or three more levels
-s. doyle - dont expect him to be out to long (please!!!) he is such a good grab and kick for goal
-fossie had a top game, mainly around half forward i thought he played his best, pinpointing passes and kicking goals
            -goodes - one word: gun
-bazza can do better than 4, played a good game... shoulda had 5 if it wasnt for the white maggots
-stevens was also quiet, is a better player than what he did tonight
-r. o'feefe - would have to be my 2nd fav player. had a good game without being brilliant
            -maxy was great

-roosy - i thought the rotation was great, backline did pretty well apart from warfe. the rest was something very positive and promising, great signs overall
            C'mon Chels!

Just some quick thoughts, keeping in mind that I could only listen to the game on radio ( ):

Schneider - where have they been hiding him?! A great long left-foot kick and ability to find space. Could be a real find.

Cresswell - I think you'd struggle to find a quieter game, excluding injury in the opening minutes, throughout his entire career. I hope this was a one-off and not a true indication of what we can expect this season.

Warfe - really got showed up for lack of pace, even by an under-performing Carlton forward line. I hope Schauble comes back soon.

Goodes - played far too loose when he started in defence, which wsa not a good sign. A move towards the middle helped, and he ended up being one of the best on ground.

Nicks - seemingly back to his role as leading forward, like in the first half of last year. Looked quite dangerous, but may be a third wheel once O'Loughlin returns.

Good game all up - hope it's a sign of things to come.

Longmire when interviewed at 3/4 time said if needed Doyle could come back on, so I doubt if its too serious but still this kid just needs some luck.

Umpire, #17, Schmidt. As one of the "informed commentators" near us said, he umpired just like that other word that rhymes with his name. So much for whistle harmony with decisions like he was making!

                      Two statistical notes:

                      - Goodes' 28 possessions is the most he's ever had.

                      - Schneider's nine marks is the best for a Swans player on debut since at least 1990. Brett O'Farrell had the previous best with 8.

Just a note for those who are quick to knock some of our players.

Some were quiet, but just think about how their opponents faired.

It's called tagging, and it doesn't make them look like stars, but they are no less important.

Let's be proud of the team and support all of them!

That's an interesting stat on Goodes - I would have thought he'd nudge 30 a couple of times by now - I recall a few games where he seemed to be everywhere moreso than last night.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

May be everywhere, but doesn't always get a possession...

Yep, that statistic is correct - his previous highest was 25 against Hawthorn in 2001. Actually, of his 87 games to the end of last season, he had managed only 12 games >= 20 possessions. His career average is 14. I suspect we will see that move up a little this year.

I think we haved missed something here on Cressa and Davis.

I think both of these players were taken very quietly in the pre-season and both had little practice match time. So you would expect they will improve greatly with more ground time.
