Top sides all have players who pick 29 plus possessions as Jude did. Strewth if you look closely at Voss and Buckley you will see that they make disposal errors regularly but no-one ever knocks them.
LOL - you seriously mention Jude in the same sentence as Voss and Buckely...!!! No one knocks the latter two because, although they make some errors, they regularly provide a huge value-add to their team by creating opportunities and doing that regularly. JB has yet to prove that he can. As I said a little earlier this year, he is worth persisting with but he really needs to do more with the ball. He showed some really good signs last night, however there is still a long way to go.

I actually thought Jude had a fairly ordinary game.
You have got to be joking.

That is a seriously dumb statement!!

Easily his best game for the Swans and BOG IMHO.

Yes for the first, but no way for the second.

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion, no problem.

But you are the second or third poster to claim Bolton was 'no way' BOG without offering a name of 'your' BOG.

          Do tell!

BBB - make sure you post your votes for the Troy Luff Medal. Judging by your post count you look like a newcomer so not sure if you'd be aware of it.

(If you're an "oldie" who's only just returned to the new site, apologies)

It's difficult because it was a very team-oriented victory, which is fabulous to see. In terms of best players I'd think Goodes is up there, and would probably get my vote as B.O.G. I'm quite happy to put Bolton in the best players on the day, just not B.O.G.

Is there a problem with the TLM???

Please PM me about your problems. I want to hear all sorts of feedback, including bad feedback. Hopefully it's something I can clear up.

No problems Charlie. By all means, vote away.

I'm just not interested in it, that's all.

In the main these things are compromised by people just voting for their favourites, regardless. As such they lack credibility, IMO.

I can understand your concerns here, and I had similar myself, and you do see this to some extent, but on the whole the voting is quite sensible and tends to actually match the better players rather than just the crowd favourites.

re the credibility of the TLM, the votes last year were very considered and ended up being quite similar to the votes from the coaching staff which went into the B&F. We ended up with the same winner, who was not a specific "favourite".

And anyway, why not take the opportunity to put your objective vote in?

BBB - why waste the opportunity to PUT a considered vote in I think charlie can pretty much confirm that last year's voting was RELATIVELY free of rigging in favour of "favourites" - as much as is possible anyway! People will always have their favourites who will nudge in front when the decision is tight on who to award votes to.

The way the TLM is structured (assuming CG hasn't changed it over the summer!), the more fair-dinkum people voting ensures that the exceptions don't get counted as heavily.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

                            I actually meant kicking wise.

I thought he played fantastic in and under the packs, and his handballing was sensational, but I still believe that his kicking let him down a bit.

Still a very gutsy performance, and certainly something for us Swans fans to look forward to this season.

He was certainly in our best 3 or 4, I just think he could have been a little more constructive with his kicking. I am sure this (hope) will improve as the season progresses.

I can certainly confirm that it was the better players who got the votes each week. Can anyone deny the domination of Adam Goodes and Paul Williams in the second half of the season? Ben Fixter's brilliant blanket job on Stephen Milne in round 20? Barry Hall running riot in the last 2 rounds??? Paul Kelly being in his best form for 4-5 years in rounds 4-7??? Tadhg Kennelly's incredible show of flair, charisma and skill in round 13?

The TLM was a VERY good indicator of player's performances. Even the much-maligned lesser likes such as Brett Kirk, Daniel McPherson, Leo Barry and yes, Jude Bolton, were rewarded when their performances deserved it.

I can't even remember 1 incident of favouritism being reflected in the votes.
