I am pretty annoyed with some of the posts regarding Leo barry on here lately. I feel he has probably been in our best 3 or 4 players for the last 2 years and some of people who have been brutal on him in the past week should be ashamed. He is a sensational player. I could go on with why I feel this, but I think anyone who genuinely follows us would know this.

Genuinely followed us for 45 years, and I am one of those who think Barry is playing pretty ordinary footy of late.
He is like the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead. When he is good he is very, very good, when he is bad he is horrid. -

If you cant bear to watch his runs, dont go. From what you have posted in a previous post regarding Leo and his character proves that you know next to nothing about Leo and maybe should even try turning onto the right channel when we play. 45 years you say?? That makes a difference how??- Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!Comment

Good observation ROK Lobster. That's pretty much the way he is. His defensive work has generally been very good this year. His rebounding has been mixed.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I think watching for 45 years you tend to pick up fair bit of how the game is played, particularly if you have been involved in coaching and administration of football for 10 years.
Since 1990 I think I have learned more in that time than I did in the previous years, simply because of a close involvement.
We all have our opinions of players and we will never agree on everyone. My disappointment with Leo is that for the greater part of last season he looked like he had matured as a player. Yet I believe he has regressed somewhat in the second half of the season to some of his not so logical choices on field. I can't say that the commentators have raved about his recent games, when last year they were waxing lyrical about his exploits.
Every AFL player will tell you they are only as good as their last game.Comment

I guess that is the nature of the beast with him.

Leo has been a dodgy decision maker for nearly ten years now. He works on instinct. Luckily for him and for us, his instinct is generally good.
I probably give Leo a bit more lee-way than I do other players - such as Schneider. I'll admit that.We hate Anthony Rocca
We hate Shannon Grant too
We hate scumbag Gaspar
But Leo WE LOVE YOU!Comment

Life is unusual with Leo, there is no doubt about that, but I never what to find out what it's like WITHOUT him down back.
Leo is valuable to us there, I am sure of it. He certainly sets up more goals from down back than he conceeds! The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of DisappointmentComment

Leo was ****house until early last year. Last year he turned into an excellent footballer, and nowadays, IMO, is one of the best Medium-sized backmen in the game. He has played different roles this year, because of Schauble being out injured (up until recent weeks). He has beaten Lloyd and Gehrig emphatically, those two just happen to be the leaders in the Coleman Medal race.
Sure he does some stupid things, but he provides a lot of run which, generally speaking, helps us greatly.Bloods

i have leo in our top 5 for the year

I think this year some of his runs may be a bit confusing for the forwards, nothing worse than not knowing when to lead etc. When it comes off it works but the defenders shouldn't have to go backwards and get into trouble, some of the turnovers result in goals. Though it can be exciting and positive on other occasions. The forwards thought are the biggest strength and when all up and running and with enough delivery will put the score on the board. The problem was in the last quarter it simply didn't go down there enough, and some of this was because of the mucking around. I have never seen Jude Bolton play a worse quarter though, Harris killed him and Bolton kept falling over at crucial times.LIFE GOES ONComment

Leo has been fantastic and been given the hardest jobs on the backline for the last 2 years. His form has dropped off slightly in the last few months but surely not enough to be canned. He was robbed af All Australian selection last year. What more can I say?We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!Comment

Leaping Leo
Sure Leo gives us all a fright now and then with his amazing runs out of defence, but 95% of the time he gets it right. He is without doubt one of our best players and a joy to watch.Occupational hazards:
