Points from Collo's interview on Triple M.

Triple M had an interview with Richard Colless before the Sydney v Carlton game. Here are my interpretations of some of the points he made:

    - Sydney's playing style [flooding?] of the past few years is just as responsible for the drop-off in interest in Sydney as poor form on the field. [Take that, Rocket!]

    - People in Sydney are not aware of the start of the AFL season for several weeks, so attendances early on should be low.

    - Sydney have cut $3.5M from last year's costs, $2.3M of that from the football department (including the player salaries).

    - The Rugby World Cup has taken many potential minor sponsors away from Sydney.

    - Sydney will not present its case for salary cap concessions (unlike Brisbane, which has put together a video package) as it believes the arguments against it are weak.

I didn't hear the interview Donners so jump on me if I'm drawing the wrong conclusions but this is piss weak.

Even IF they do believe the arguements are weak, how about coming up with some alternatives, surely just rolling over is NOT an option because next it'll be the half mill for the SA games this year, and next it'll be...............

My interpretation of this is they think the arguments AGAINST are weak, thus there is no need to defend the concession. Sounds like a dangerous game to play - like an man who knows he's innocent assuming a jury will also see it that way. In the Swans favour is that they will never lose the concession while Brisbane still has it. So maybe they're just relying on their co-defendant's lawyer!

        Agree with those sentiments.
        Very silly Swans.
        Be prepared at least.

IMO, Sydney have a much better case than the Lions.

Cost on living in Syney is hight than bot Melb and Brisbane.
Brisbane are a powerhouse. Who wouldn't want to play there?
I hardly think that moving interstate is so much of a consideration if you are looking into the face of a flag.
What the AFL SHOULD be doing for Brisbane is appointing someone for the sole purpose of exploiting current success into long term support for the club.
Look at the Hawks 10 years or so ago.
Very successful, and then they nearly merge with Melbourne.
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

Eddie Moron was talking about the salary cap on MMM today. It sounded a little like he was trying to soften his stance (minutely) where the Swans are concerned. Apparently, he still thinks the salary cap should be reduced for us, but that our players would instead receive a subsidy (cost of living allowance/housing rebate). I still reckon he can go and stick his fist up his butt.
