Yep Captain, he murdered Neitz - jumped a second early at each high ball and kept his feet well.

A VERY underrated player who will surely play International Rules this year (All Aussie).

Very good game indeed. Played a very disciplined game which he tends to do when given a one on one stopping job.

I have been one of those knockers and am happy to be one of the first to give credit when it is due.

We were behind the goals (2nd Q) and there was a sensational save, when they finally got Neitz one on one deep in the g'square and Leo timed it perfectly to spoil.

Dunk's would've been proud of it...no greater compliment.

And what about the really crazy stop start run later in the game, one of his best.

Surely a 'greatest hits' of Leo's death defying runs and spoils would be a highlight for us Swannies fans?

Nicksy was fantastic as well...Came up with some crucial touches and 1%ers when the Dees were coming back at us.

Great defensive game by Barry. Over the past few years his defensive skills have really improved immeasurably. The main issue with his game is his run - sometimes it's fantastic and sometimes it's a mess. This can be from game to game or from minute to minute.

He didn't seem to try to run too far last night, but gave it off more, which helps. Kennelly's run is probably better as he runs in straight lines and delivers the ball generally well by foot. His handballs are interesting - sometimes excellent to a player in space, other times to a player under trouble.

I thought all the backline were great last night. The ball was in there an awful lot and they managed to lock down the Demons.

You have had to eat your words on Leo so many times, but like a dog with a bone, you still come up with comments like "he is not a team player"... even as late as last week!!

When it comes to commenting on our gun defender, your credibility is completely shot IMO.

Couldn't agree more Captain.

I have more confidence in Leaping Leo when he goes off on one of his dazzling zig zagging runs than any other player in the Swans team when they have the ball. In comparison, Ben Matthews gets the ball 15 metres in from the boundary line, craps himself, and invariably heads to the boundary line by either disposal or running out of room and being tackled over the line.

Whatever Leo's supposed faults are through his knockers on this site, at least he has a red hot go, plays TEAM football while taking on the opposition, runs with the ball 30 metres after bouncing three times and dodging four opponents, whereby he then finds a teammate either by hand or foot, long or short. Leo backs into packs regardless of life and limb, all for the team cause.

Whereas Matthews ( bloody Matthews ) lurks on the outside of packs or along the boundary lines in space. When taking possession, Matthews either chips the ball sideways, backwards or forwards 25 metres, NEVER takes on the opposition and when cornered heads to the boundary or gives the ball off to a teammate under immense pressure.

GET RID OF HIM.

Too right about Mathews. He has improved this year but still looks like a 'Roo in Headlights' when he has the ball.

Who will forget the game against Fremantle where he was 50m out right in front. He had no options to kick to, so instead of going back and at least getting it to the square, he kicked it wide into the pocket to Bazza and 2 Fremantle defenders.

Just one point on Mathews - he did completely shut down one of Melbourne's most dangerous midfielders - Brad Green.

I feel sorry for the people sitting either side of me at the footy whenever Leo Barry gets the ball because I find myself dodging and weaving in my seat in the hope that he can eventually find a clear path out of defence. After some games I feel exhausted, its hard work this dodging, weaving, stopping, bouncing, stopping again, bouncing again, dodging and weaving again before I finally get rid of the ball!!! Does anyone else have the same problem.

No - I keep as still as a stiff due to the utmost confidence in the man known as Leaping Leo the Lionheart.

Which is a lot different to when Ben Matthews, Nic Fosdike and occasionally Adam Goodes gets the ball - which is greeted with " Ooooohhhh no ", then " f*#@*n Maaaaaaatttthhhheeewwwsss ", a grey hair coming out and then the roar of the opposition crowd as Matthews/Fosdike's opponent has hit their leading forward on the chest 25 metres out !

Does anyone else suffer the same grief when Ben Matthews and Nic Fosdike get the ball ?!

I tihnk there were a few Melbourne players like that on Saturday night - they didn't really seem to be properly focussed on the game early on.
