    Re: Hall v AFL

I've gone for the last one, but think he will go, not on the incident, but because he is Barry Hall and because he got off on the last two occasions, as well as the lottery that the tribunal has become this year

It probably was a redundant choice. He's been shafted just be being asked to front up.

Politics dictates that Bazza can't be allowed to get off twice in just a few games. The incident objectively doesn't deserve more than a fine (the difference between 'unduly rough play' and 'wrestling' in circumstances like this is practically nil), but Bazza will probably get a game because of his record. Which would be a disaster for the Essendon game- we need him when we're facing up to Matthew Lloyd at the other end.

I like the idea that Alistair Nicholson doesn't get cited for starting the fight with Bazza when the ball was already dead, but Hall gets cited for retaliating. All fair and above board.

The Macchiavelli award for the week goes to the spin artist who wrote the phrase "the video review is continuing", as if you need to watch the video for more than 60 seconds to know what occurred and who (if anyone) should be booked. It's a clever code for 'we're going after Barry Hall, but by leaving some vague open-ended possibility that we might book someone else at some later point, we're trying to deflect attention from the fact that we're doing so'.

He will get shafted (even more than just shafted by having to appear), after all this is the AFL tribunal

He should get nothing but the game will get a lot more publicity. The Melbourne media is out of control.

The Melbourne media remember the recent playing days of such players as Leigh Matthews, Dermott Brereton, Tony Lockett and David Rhys-Jones, who all visited the tribunal with great regularity. Now that these players are all retired, it's clear that they want someone to be their bad boy, and Mr Alliteration has become their Chosen One.

He should get an apology from the vfl...sorry, I mean AFL, and as, Barry Schneider said, $100 for a new jersey. However, I guess that as we're playing Essendon next weekend, that he'll get a week...just to even out the game...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

He'll cop a fine. The tribunal is already down on credibility (which I'm sure the AFL is aware of).

I was at the game but didnt see the incident clearly enough, did Baz push him after the ball / player had already gone over the line? At the time it look a like he could off avoided throwing him down but as I said I didnt really have a good view from the opposite side of the ground. If yes he might get a week.

Was anyone else supprised more Swans didnt come in and back up Maxfield or was that a sign of good discipline as the ball was about to be thrown back in?

                      Cheers

A guilty verdict with a fine better not cost him a brownlow.

I just don't know what to think.

If he does go, APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL

and bring out every single case that has been thrown out this year including Alistair "steroids" Lynch and Jeff "Cry Baby" Farmers as prime examples of why he should be cleared.

This hogwash off appearing on past indiscretion borders on friggen discrimination IMHO and i would like the friggen swans take the AFL and the umpires to court.

I just can't fathom what Barry Needs to do for him to get a free go? He gets manhandled more times than a hooker at the cross during a game yet the umpire free kicks him most of the time.

Sometimes i honestly feel like running out onto the field and just decking whoever is umpiring, but i have more brains than that.

Bazz will get shafted. The whole process is a joke.

This weekend will probably highlight how corrupt the system has become - Bombers play with Hird and benefit from plenty of questionable free kicks (especially to Lloyd) while the Swans play without Hall who has been cited and suspended on past reputation alone.

                            As I said before - it's a bloody joke.

I've never seen the hookers at the Cross get manhandled like that - no-one would want to catch anything!

Often tempting, but we see it happen at kids games in all sports too often. Better off to go to the gym and have a go at the punching bag.
