    Bulldogs Trade Offer

It's been reported today, that Rodney Eade has said that the Bulldogs would be prepared to trade an early draft pick.

What do RWO posters think the Swans would have to trade to get a top 5 pick?

It's been suggested in other posts to trade Jude and Fozzy, but where does that leave our midfield?

Perhaps if there was an outstanding defender in this years draft, the Club might try to do a deal.

Otherwise I don't think they will trade one of the better players unless he wants to leave.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Roos has stated he will go after experienced players, and we ourselves may end up trading our early picks. So I don't think we will be chasing the Doggies pick. In any case, if the rumours are to be believed, you'd wonder whether any Swan would want to play for Rocket again.

We could use the higher pick to get who we want. Remember that trades get very messy.

I am sure that there are players at the Swans that Rocket would love at the Bulldogs, and probably a few players that would be happy to be under Rocket again.

Anyone who thinks that everyone at the swans were cheering when Rocket left are kidding themselves.

Very good point. Something like Fosdike and our 2nd round pick, maybe even chuck in Powell, for one of their top picks. Trade that top pick, plus maybe another tradeable player, to attract a young key defender with some experience.

Pure speculation of course, but things like this can happen.

But you'd only get 2 years out of West. Plus I dont really know what he would add to our team. If you could get one of the old Bulldogs midfielders for nothing, the guy to go for would be Brad Johnson I reckon. But these guys are not worth anything at trade time anymore coz they are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Saddington was Eade's lovechild. Maybe he would pay dearly to get him back.

                  Ben 'Son of Rodney' Mathews?
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

No way would Fosdike and a 2nd pick get a top 5 pick. YOU'RE DREAMING.
plus although West is a great player i'd give no more than a pick in the 20's for him as he's ageing and will come with a large salary.

The fact that R.Eade is talking about trading the bulldogs early picks should make everyone here sit up and take note. Remember this was the man who neglected to develope the Swans list, from the plugger, cressa, kelly dunkly Roos, micky'o. formula.
IE he did not bring on the kids comprehensivley. roos has done a lot more since Eade left, but a lot more needs to be done. We should in no wise follow the Rocket model. We should give him players for his early draft picks (10 and earlier), and we should not I repeat not trade our high draft picks , unless somthing of the status of a true champion comes along.(like we did with Barry Hall)
If we get Two or three top 10 draft picks this year we could be very well set up come 2006-2008.
If we don't continue to develope our list with home growns, we will be contenders for the next 3 years(5 at most), but to week to winn a flag. We will then begine to away dramatically to the teams who have completed their rebuilds.
Please please please lets not follow the Eade example any more. It is a medium term fix which will probably be good for the Bulldogs (cos it will get them off the bottom of the ladder), but it will not get the Swans into the top 4 on a regular basis, and that is what the Swans need.

Eade said so. probably picks 3 and 6, but could be 2 and 4 if richmond beat hawthorn. Dogs would be looking for someone in their 'age gap' say 21-26. Must be quality and have good hard physical presence, would be looking for 1) tall forward 2) tall defender 3) uncompromising lock...

it really depends on how far off Roos thinks we are to being a contender. If he thinks we are a CHB, star midfielder and ruckman away, then he will try to trade for this.

If he thinks this batch of players is not going to contend for a flag in the next couple of years, then he will continue to draft kids and hope we can challenge in about four or five years time.
