James Powell and Schneider are the emergencies.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

The worst aspect of fighting for a spot in the 8 is that even if we lose no youngsters will be played next week.

We will still be in contention so Roosy won't risk an untried player in round 22. If we were out of it say like Carlton the youngsters like Willoughby and Schmidt would probably being played this week.

Still, I'd rather be in contention - if we can finish 6th and play WC in Sydney I'll be happy - happier if we end up playing Freo in Melbourne on a wet day!

I very much doubt either of these would come into consideration unless there were no others to choose from. The club has stated that its general policy is to allow players a year to settle into the professional football environment with no expectations on them playing senior football. Of course one day an exception will come along but recent draft choices have all been ones not likely to be ready "early".

Furthermore, while Willoughby and Schmidt are showing something in the reserves, and I suspect the club will be satisfied with their progress, they don't yet look ready for senior football.

If new blood were to be introduced you would think Dempster or McGlone would be more likely.

IMO this is the best team we've fielded all year.

Schauble has a few games under his belt.
          Nick Davis a couple.

Micky O is building some great form.
Goodesy is finding a little for the first time since his knee injury.

If Schneids comes back next week (or even this week), suddenly we're only Saddo and Fossy (maybe Fixter?) from a full complement.

          There is some hope.

IMHO Fossie isn't part of our best 22. For an outside midfielder, he simply doesn't do enough, not necessarily in terms of just number of possessions, but even kicking goals and the like. He averages less goals per game across his career than Bolton and Kirk.
