At the risk of being shot down, yes the umping was fuc#ed, in fact worse than that tonight and we were well and truly on the end of most of the poor poor decisions...Ben Matthews holding the ball!! shocking. However, the worst one was Baz's token free for over the shoulder. Should have been against Baz for holding the ball.

Baz had several others that were a lot more obvious than that, however he was paid a token free because the ump was feeling guilty!

McVeigh (Rowdy psycho that he is) laid a terrific tackle and was pinged for an invisible free. I'd be livid if I wasn't so happy about getting an invisible one back!

I thought the umpiring was strange and inconsistent as usual, but I reckon we definitely had the better of the umpiring. Had no influence on the game though.

The 50 to Lloyd was a joke.

That fact that Baz didn't get one for a worse infringement was a disgrace.

Anyway, we won so suck @@@@ bombers.

In the end it didn't matter - but Essendon could easily have kicked our butts in 1st qtr if not for poor kicking. Goldspink was shocking again, but i thought the others evened things up a bit (esp. Ryan(?)).

That was my initial reaction, but watching the replay, it was there. If Schauble had held him but not slung him to ground, it would have just been the mark. It was the slinging to ground that the 50 was paid for. If Schauble hadn't even held him, Lloyd looked like he was going to play on.

At least it was 50m from 25 out, and not from 60 out to put him in range - most likely he would have kicked the goal with or without the 50m penalty.

That's fine, but if you're going to pay that, Baz's treatment futher justifies a 50.

I still maintain that Essendon get more frees inside our 50 than we ever get inside theirs.

The Matthews decision, the Hird dive... then we dont get a 50 for Hall being brought to ground after a mark, as well as the "non" mark that was obviously there to Hall.

Its not how many frees you get that counts, its how many aren't paid and where you do get them that matters.

Sydney must be very close to having most goals scored against us from frees, and the least for.

How can anyone whinge about the umpiring on sat night??? It was bad but at least reasonably consitantly bad and effected both sides quite equally.

Christ, if you are going to whinge about last night... you are going to spend the rest of your life whinging about umpires. Like the weather, you just have to get used to it.

                    Umpires do not kick goals.

Considering the fact that we could have been in the top 4 at this very moment had it not been for crap umpiring (v dons, cats, roos) and the fact we have the most penalised forward in the game, I think we have every bloody right to complain.

Until half time I was thinking that the $20k must have finally run out, because we were definitely getting the better of it. Nice to get a few dodgy calls our way for a change.

Hirdy must have given the piggy bank a good shake at half time and found a few extra pennies, because it seemed to switch after then.

                            Still, I've seen worse!

How umpires are rostered? We have had Goldspink 5 times this year for 4 wins against Freeo, Bulldogs, Magpies and Bombers last night. The 1 loss was round 6 Bombers (not our best day for a fare go). I don't think the same umpires should be in control of both rounds. I would guess it would come down to numbers and if they don't have enough umpires then give Peter H a run.

I would love it if Hird was on TFS again this week and he was asked about the umpiring. The Bombers would perhaps be unhappy with the umpiring (did anyone see Sheeds at quarter time?) so it could be fun.
