How far will it put back the code here in Sydney if we have a home final moved away to victoria ?

How far, if we end up losing it to WC/Freo ?

I can see the Sydney media having a field day calling it the "VFL" once more.

The AFL would be devasted about what is looking like a Sydney V West Coast match at the G. Sydney is the one team they would not have wanted to steal a match from for their contract.

Sydney is the one market that needs hyped up matches played here....

Great for the Melbourne fans - but not very good at all for the club and games development.

As they bloody well should. What a joke - if we earn the home final, we should get to keep it, irrespective of Victorian-centric governing bodies and silly contracts.

The likelihood is that we'd play in Melbourne in wk 2 of the finals as well.

As for the Melbourne game, if we can't win at the MCG, we don't deserve to be a premiership contender.

Still doesn't excuse how crazy the situation is...a Perth team V a Sydney team in Melbourne?

Total disgrace. (If it happens, still got a week to go )

Regardless what media is Sydney will be saying, it was announced by the AFL that five final games will be played at the G this season. So, expect the Sydney's game to be played at the G in the first week of the finals.

I don't know if it has been posted... but last nights win against Essendon now means we are in the finals regardless, correct?

LOL thanks for the newsflash SXP. Think we are all aware of the anti national competition contract the AFL has in place with the MCG.

Undoubtedly very silly given the likelihood of Vic v. WA teams. But still, good practice for our guys at the MCG.

Bearing in mind West Coast are getting themselves a % boost against Freo, it looks like we will be 6th, West Coast 7th on 48 separated by %, with Freo 8th on 44 ahead of Essendon on 44. To miss out, we would have to lose (reasonably big), plus have Essendon beat the Dogs and Freo beat St Kilda in Melbourne.

I would say very unlikely, but then again, results conspired for us in Round 19, but we didn't keep our end of the deal against the Roos, so I'm not holding my breath.

                      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Get over it people. Its not like we haven't been warned, and the GF is always at the G anyway.

Plus it will give our long-suffering Melbourne fans an extra game to watch live this year

We could do with a bit of practice at the 'G'

                            Final in Sydney

I think that the AFL could make a good case for having any Port home final at the MCG given how many people have turned up for home Port finals in the last few years. At least we could guarantee 55,000+.

Have they definitely said that it will be the lowest placed interstate home team that misses out ? (Given there is nothing fair in this system, this follows their commercial-driven logic).

Thats a stupid comment. If we end up winning the flag (obviously the aim of all finalist), we are in for a long tough campain. We need every advantage our position merits.

If our 1st final is played at the G, and we end up in the GF, then we would have been on the road for 5 weeks straight. A Sydney home final in the 1st week only makes the granny the 3rd away game in a row.
                              Huge difference.

It would be nice to win at the 'G at least once before the GF given that we haven't won there in a final in nearly 60 years.
