I think the run of play in the first quarter suggests otherwise.

Roos had to make those moves anyway, and he did, and as we saw they had no effect until the second quarter.

Of the nine kickouts from behinds, 6 went past half way, 2 went outside 50 and only one was turned over immediately.

The 'Dons were much better in the centre, with 4 CB clearances to 2, and our 2 came from free kicks resulting from clumsy tackles by Essendon. Good to get the clearances but not suggestive that we are doing a great job in the centre.

They were also in control around the ground, with 13 I50s to 6, and 69 possessions to 55.

I think the Dons generally looked better around the midfield and in general play. It broke down for them going into the forward 50 though and we made the most of our opportunities.

Good game swans, dissapointed with the loss but with our inaccuracy we didn't deserve the win. A few bad umpiring decisions, but they went both ways and had little influence on the final outcome.

I thought we dominated the first quarter with little reward, you guys dominated the second quarter and it showed on the scoreboard. The second half was pretty much even. The other point I have was the respective entrances into forward fifty. We scrubbed the ball inside fifty with Lloyd obviously either unfit or down on form and with little purpose ****ed around with it before finally getting it in. Your defense was then able to clear it out and stream out in numbers and get it into the forward line with purpose. Bad play lost us this game.
Good luck for the finals, I think you may get to a prelim if you're lucky but next year should be the biggest opportunity for both of our sides respectivley.
We should scrape into 8th and play the Demons whilst you will get a home final against west coast (most likely.)

It is interesting to compare last Saturday's game to the other Essendon game this year. In that game, we were not the better side for three quarters, but in the last quarter we were killing them and we put it on the scoreboard. We could even have pinched the game from 40 points down had the umpires been kinder to us in the last quarter of that game.

          Let's compare:
          Round 6 - round 21
Essendon dominated first 3 quarters - Swans dominated last 3 quarters
Swans had a great last quarter - Essendon had a good first quarter
Swans complained about umpires - Essendon complained about umpires

Sheeds can say what he likes, but the Swans played better for 3 quarters and deserved the win.

We're 1-all this year. Bring on September.

I expect the Bombers to be there, too. I also expect the Bombers to end Melbourne's season in the first week because the Bombers are in better form.
