Is a dead set gun.

On Saturday he created two goals in a manner not seen since Schwatta was weaving his way through traffic.

One was on the bombers fifty in the 2nd Q when he picked up the ball with 4 scum in a circle round him, his back to goals and somehow spun completely clear, fed the handball, goal to O'Keefe.

The other was even better in the 4th Q from right on the boundary completely ringed by Scum, picks up wheels around, creates space where there was none and delivers from the boundary....Goal (to O'Loughlin, I think).

And who will ever forget the handball from traffic against Hawthorn to set up the winning goal?

This man must play close to 120 minutes ON THE BALL with Captain Kirk. They could be some duo.

And get Paul Bevan in there too. Early in Q2 just after the Bombers first goal and they were in their fwd 50 again. The ball was loose but in the middle of about 6 players. He hit it at full speed, wheeled around and delivered up the wing. I think that it may have gone out of bounds a couple of passes down the track but the Bombers did not have a possession before we scored. It was the start of 8 straight. I'm not big on the idea of 'turning points' in a game but it did seem to get things started.

He and Buchanon have both had a great year.

I loved that Bevo moment. He hit the ball at full pace and just burst through the traffic. Showed some magic at that moment I thought.

Also, Amon was my personal little favourite for the night. Monty is a little gun who has a tonne of confidence. I loved his game and love his year!

Yep - I love the way he is able to find gaps in traffic and get the ball out effectively.

closely ever since. His ability to fire a hand pass out of
a pack has set up numerous scoring opportunities.

Buchannon, Schneider and Bevan are the three players that really give me hope for the future of our midfield - all three are willing to get the ball, not just receive it. That's worth a lot.

When Ricky Barham was on GOM a few weeks ago he said categorically that he looks for footballers first and athletes second. Monty certainly comes into this category. With guys like this it takes time and dedication to get their bodies right, esp for a midfield role. If they are pushed too hard too soon there is a big risk of serious injury ? look at what has happened to Schneider this year.

Because of his injuries last year, Monty is probably a year behind where he should be, but provided he stays healthy I see him as one of our key midfielders in the years ahead.

Good point! If he misses out on preseason next year or is injured during the year that would pretty much be it for Buchanen at the Swans. At the very least he may find it hard to get a spot in the team back.
