Melb Final is good for Swans

Even though I am Sydney based* I am happy if the first is played at MCG. Main reason is that I think every melb AFL fan that does not have a team in the 8 will want the swans to win. This is esp. so if it is West Coast as I believe many Vic??s hate West Coast.

I think many members will go to the game and therefore become Swans fans for as many as the next few weeks as the little duckies can stay alive.

PS * I declare my hand now that I will be in Port Douglas for the fist weekend and Alice Springs the next one. Should the AFL decide to swap the finals to these venues I withdraw all comments above

I also am not findng myself too angry about the possibility of playing the first final at the MCG v West Coast (and I am a Sydney-based fan). Perhaps reasons why:

    1. We play better at the G than at Homebush, and West Coast have a poor record at the G.

    2. I'm happy for the Melbourne-based fans (old and new) to get another chance to support the Swans live and at a final to boot - we might get 30,000 of them at the MCG.

    3. The injustice would be partly balanced by the fact that West Coast were shafted likewise twice in the past.

The real bummer of hosting a final in Melbourne is not the loss of home ground advantage, but the loss of the chance to stay home for one weekend. All the other top 8 sides (except Melbourne) are playing at home in Rd 22.

If the Swans go all the way from 6th spot it would require 4 consecutive away wins, on top of the fifth away game against Richmond this weekend.

      I agree.

I am Melbourne based Swans Supporter so if we play at the G, I can go but if we play at Subiaco, I can't go! If we were to play at SCG, I would go.

It is fair that both teams play away, rather than West Coast playing home and us away, so it works out fair!

What's fair about a team finishing 6th forfeiting home advantage. If WC finish 6th and us 7th the final should be played at Subiaco.

            Spot on,

The team who finishes 6th should get a home final, regardless of who it is.
