Better off losing to Tigers ?

Are we better off losing to the tigers and finishing 8th ??

I say this because then we can qualify for the MCG prelim.

    Our run would be:
    v Melbourne (at MCG)
    v Geelong (at MGC)
    v Brisbane @ MCG (Prelim)

    Assuming results go as expected.

Are you saying this because the Demons away are more palatable to take on than the Eagles at our home?

Not sure the support for us at the MCG against the Dees would be as strong if were taking on the Eagles anywhere along the Eastern Seaboard!

I dont support losing under any circumstances. If we are good enough to be premiers, we are good enough to beat Port at AAMI.

Could'nt agree more, if we're good enough we will beat anyone anywhere. I also tend to think that we play much better when we are the underdogs ie against st kilda & bribane this year & Port Adelaide last year, yet we lost to Richmond earlier this year and just fell in against Hawthorn. Lets hope we beat Richmond this week and then win as many finals as we can.

        Cheers Maureen

You're assuming that Port will actually manage to win a QF at AAMI.

I wonder how few will go to the game this year?

I must admit the Weagles worry me as the 'smoky' in the finals but in no way would the Swans losing momentum and confidence be a good thing.

And risk dropping out of the eight altogether if Fremantle beat St Kilda and West Coast beat Melbourne???

You are right. I actually think we might have a better chance against Port @ AAMI in a prelim, than against Brisbane @ MCG.

Assuming we stay 6th, a run of:
                v WC in Sydney
                v StK at MCG
                v Port at AAMI
                v Geelong at MCG (Hopefully!)

No way should we lose to Richmond. Kick their sad sorry arses I say and personally hand them a giant wooden spoon at the end of the game. Lose and we risk missing the 8. And there's still hope for a Telstra Stadium home final.

We do need to make sure we boost our percentage as well

As a teenager I witnessed some of the biggest thumpings at the hands of Richmond as they mercilessly ground us into the ground in pursuit of the 73,74 and 1980 premierships.

I have waited years to get revenge on them for Merv Keane's shirtfront of Teaser in the 77 elimination final.

I still cannot forgive them for enticing John Pitura to leave South and then turning a superstar into a very ordinary footballer.

I say that we bury them. I've been waiting a long long time to genuinely bury a former VFL power, and if we give it to em big big time, victory will be even sweeter.

Grind em into the dirt I say. Have no sympathy for the peasants.

                        1. Even if it did work out that we were "perceived to be" better off losing I'd still say go for the win. I never ever want to support a team that doesn't want to win a game. It's one reason I give the Bulldogs credit for their performance against the Kangaroos on the weekend. It's also the reason why I think priority picks are a joke, but I've addressed that elsewhere.

                        2. I agree with Doctor J. If we can bury them, let's do it. Percentage can still be a big factor in top 8 seedings and the Eagles aren't too far behind us. Additionally, the Swans style of play doesn't lend itself to huge wins so I'd love to see them get a big lead and then really go on with it. The momentum for the following week would be great.

Just on the Wallace as a coach for Tigers next year I would want the one up on the ledger! Keep them where they belong!

No way we would want to drop the game

(Make sure that the KKP are safe on the bench if required though!)

The day we start thinking one final will be easier than another and start losing games to try to get a "favourable" draw will be the day I will cease to follow this club.

And in case you didnt know, results may not fall our way and we may end up 9th if we dont win this game. We can also end up 7th and play a final @ Subiaco if we dont beat Richmond comfortably.
