It would be a great boost to the 'Women in AFL' program to organise the birth as part of the half-time entertainment.

This would make everybody happy and do wonders for the TV ratings, no doubt.

That may interrupt the charity dude that is finishing his run there at half time.

Right in the middle of Auskick. Simpson could sponsor it, and it would be a great education for the kids. Luffy could compere it, and Kenny could keep the Mum and Dad motivated. Cyggy could be the midwife. Let's hope Goldstink isn't there because he would surely make a wrong call on whether its a boy or girl. Footyhead could give it some life coaching

I hope we get some new recruits under the father/son rule Plugger's had 4 girls!

If the baby is born this weekend, his baby would have chosen to be born on the only weekend in 2 months when the Swans are playing against a lowly side.

Best of luck Kirky, and if the baby is born during the match, you will let the groundstaff know so the good news can be displayed on the scoreboard at 3/4 time!

The whole team could hold the baby aloft - trophy style! After Auskick, Kirky could run around the sideline with the baby prior to taking his spot in the middle. This is a promoter's dream, the possibilities are almost endless.

Fair enough if it was "unplanned" but it never fails to amaze me why so many footy couples try for kids around XMAS and times that would make the baby due in the Footy season..must make it very stressful for a footballer, especially a non Melbourne based one that travels every 2nd week.

Very best of luck to them though

Should be stipulated in their contract that sex is permitted only in the months of March, April & May

(Would prevent most of the "end-of-season" scandals too)

Doesn't really suprise me at all that a lot of pregancies start during their six-week break.

I think that you should take into account that having a kid does not just happen, for most couples it can take several months...some take years ... some have to go ivf and some have no luck EVER. I think the avg is around 6 months of trying. There a bigger things in life than any job/sport and having a family may be one of them to MR Kirk - good luck to him and Ms Captain K!

I am more concerned about weeks 2-6 of the kids life when they go feral and don't sleep. I remember my wife and I joking about Lance Whitnall going off the boil once he had kid/s... she joked that he looked and played like he had not slept for a month.

For some having kids works wonders and makes them focus think about carrer and $'s (T Lockett for eg) ... maybe junk food head Mr 80% Davis should get on the job have a kiddie and get some focus!

A few weeks ago I would have been critical of such an attitude. But in lieu of Russell, Destructive's Grandma's and Wally's death, my attitude is that one must ALWAYS prioritize one's family. We live to live. Compared to a person's life, football is a mere irrelevance. A footy game is important, but a birth of a baby is a once-in-a lifetime experience.

Good on Kirky and the Swans for staying with his wife.

I was being pretty general mja, relax lol Everyone is different, and it is a fact of life, pregnancies happen!

I do think it should be taken into consideration when trying though....be very annoying for fans if say Barry Hall missed the AFL grand final because of the birth of his child.

Not sure how many hardcore fans would be saying "that is great", if BBB didn't take his place in the 22 on Grand Final day lol.

Well it sounds as if Saturday night's inducement night. Why didn't the Captain's wife go to an obstetrician that follows the Swans? He/She would have put it off to Monday.
