Don't knock it - it worked for Ryan Bayley. There must be something in those 11 herbs & spices.

      what the?????????

granted Nick is a young player, but god forbid he make light of any situation.

I saw him run out against Brisbane in round one and thought WOW!! He looked very good. Besides swimming what was he going to do while he couldn't walk or put pressure on his foot???

I have no doubt he is as hungry as all of the Swans are for a premiership and to put in a good showing. If possible, more so only to shut up all of those doubting him.

Memo to Nick. Don't talk Babe. Remain silent. Perhaps become a Monk and join a silent order. But of course if you did that you wouldn't get up early enough or your quill would scratch too loudly while copying the umpiring rules, and for budda's sake don't eat anything in case you ended up taking food from the starving orphans.

      Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release

Personally I'm disgusted with Davis's attitude - it stinks.

Who gives a toss what his diets' like, it's his attitude that I'm worried about.

He obviously isn't happy playing footy and is a long way off giving 100%. He is a selfish individual, up himself and will be a liability to our team.

Comparisons to Plugger are crazy. Plugger had more talent in his little finger than Davis. Likewise Akermanis.

Who cares if Davis kicked 3 goals last weekend. He needs to do that week in week out, not cameo appearences. Look at his career average. What about stats like tackles, hard ball gets, goal assists etc?

It's little wonder we haven't seen a Swans team win a flag since 33 if we have players that are more interested in themselves than the team.

I completely disagree with that. People love to bitch about Nick and say he is a big waste of talent; he can't be both a big waste of talent and talentless.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

That's the article I was referring to. I assumed the article in the original post was the smh one.

Hopefully Barry Hall gets in his ear a lot more.

If Davis had half the work ethic and determination of Baz then it would be fine by me.

I just read that article and Nick there's the door use it bud. What a little spoilt brat.

Sorry but Nicks character is the sort that can divide teams and destroy team harmony.

And Chris Walker as his best mate...wtf?

Lets trade him to league if he wants to play that code so much. And I really didn't know he was a part time kicking coach for Cronulla Sharks.

I am appalled at his attitude!

I'm surprised at how articulate he is with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek.

But really Nick do you have to try hard to p$ss everyone off or is it also a god given talent?

I don't think he had his tongue planted in his cheek. He was being fair dinkum about it all.

And if he was being sarcastic, he is an idiot as the story has run as front page in the sports section.

                            Trade bait!

I think the article revealed just what a big issue 'depression' and mental health in general might really be in the AFL. When ND says 'god help the kid that wants to be like me" at the end of the article I just felt sad. We took our kids to the JAM clinic this year, and also ran into Nick one Sunday on Driver Ave. Both times he spoke to my boys and was VERY down on himself. I did not think much of it at the time but the article made me think of it again. As a complete outsider I have no way of knowing how this problem should be dealt with - softly softly or in the way that has been suggested by other posters in this thread. I think the best thing that Nick has going for him is our coach. Roos is an an intelligent and articulate man with a ton of common sense. He seems very sympathetic and willing to approach problems from a vareity of angles. At the same time I think he is tough and wont take too much crap. I hope Nick gets his head together and starts enjoying his football. If not then good luck to him in any future career his chooses - but I expect happiness is not in the Rugby League

Wow. Very interesting article. It was good of him to be so candid about himself, which could be significant in itself. There will always be talented people who aren't 100% focussed - they're called underachievers and exist in all walks of life, not just footy. Davis needs to decide how much he wants it I guess.
