Apart from some cameo performances, he still hasn't even proven himself. A player in his position should be doing everything he can to become a better, more consistent player.

I wonder if the Lions would tolerate his attitude. I very much doubt it.

As seen by that article, seriously have to question whether he could be bothered enough to play on the ball. That requires dedication at training, building up one's body to cop the bumps and bruises of being an on-baller.

Why would be bother doing that when he can bludge on a half forward flank, kick arsey banana goals from the pocket like Medhurst or Farmer, then do nothing for the rest of the game?

Still as shown yesterday, he is one of the only Swans players who I would define as willing to back himself from over 35 metres, both on the run and from a set shot.

He DOES give us another dimension up forward. There is simply no questioning that.

It does open up a pandora's box about his departure from Collingwood.

Could you imagine a guy with a haphazard attitude like that ever surviving for long in the Melbourne goldfish bowl?

No wonder he moved back up here. Mum can do his washing, and nobody knows who he is, so he can go missing and cut corners when he wants to.

For one who wants to champion the rights of minorities your posts stink of hypocrisy.

Funny how now you're so willing to persecute Nick for not being main stream.

i dont think anyones under any illusions that Nick Davis is a little immature in his attitude, but face it, when he's fit he's very handy, and this will be his last AFL club. If he hangs around into his mid/late 20's his head will catch up and he will be a great player.

Its no wonder he mentions league, as that would be about the only alternative if he left the swans.

                  LMAO.... Akermanis???

I repeat that it take all kinds to play AFL, and a truly balanced side will have all kinds in it.

There is only one moment that matters... when its 30sec to go, the game is on the line, and you need to do something special to win it. The team really wont care less whether its taking a saving mark, making a saving tackle, converting a simple goal or kicking miraculous goal.

Think back to all of those players that have won it or lost it when it mattered most (Lockett, Cresswell, Mott, Ball, Bolton, Hall). The rest in between is just crap and speculation.

I bet if you asked the team right now whether they wanted Nick in the team or not, you'd get a yes every time... w@nker or not.

WTF, that's churlish reply Ruda. Bringing my sexuality into this debate is really quite pathetic, don't you agree?

One can be different and still apply oneself. One can be ideosyncratic, and still be warm and friendly to people. One can be relaxed, yet still give the impression of being professional.

From my dealings with the guy, sadly he isn't fair dinkum about things on either score.

But yes, definitely a different type of personality, that's for sure. Wonder how much of it Roosey and the rest of the guys really understands it.

I just want what is best for this club and him personally. If my honest appraisals have offended, I apologise.

But I don't really understand how they could have.

For one who has lived through the pain of the last twenty years, I would have thought you'd be willing to be more accepting of someone like Nick.

After all, if it comes down eventually to being nice losers or w@nker winners, which one do you really want??

I think RW's post was not meant to be offensive - simply a comment that some people are a little different to the mainstream. Anyone else who is also may perhaps recognise that and be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until they know more.

In terms of being willing to have a chat with fans, I can appreciate that some players don't want to do that. And really why should they?

With regard to laziness, it's most likely there is an element of conceit in that, sort of "I'm so talented I don't want to have to work too hard." However, I think it is a bit too easy to dismiss this as a poor attitude that could be easily corrected, and it's not always that simple. It is shocking to see potential wasted, but it's not always so cut and dried.

No i don't think it's pathetic otherwise i wouldn't have made the comment. Though I reckon it's safe to say you've taken it out of context. You've often bought your sexuality into discussions when you've been trying to make a point. How is it pathetic that i do similar?

I bought it into it because that, as you've stated on many occasions, was the reason you said you were in a minority group. That's not pathetic, churlish or any other thing you want to call it. It's merely drawing a comparison to what we were discussing.

Trust me Julian, personally i really don't care if you're gay, straight, upside down, back the front, whether you'd like to dance naked with Britney Spears covered in Vegemite under a full moon, or if you wear full cheersquad attire to bed whilst clutching a Barry Hall doll. Whatever.

My point wasn't about you being gay, it was about you being part of a minority group *whatever* that minority happens be ....and knowing the headpace that can come with such things, when everyone else (wrongly) expects you be some other way.

I just thought that you having been (as stated by you previously) alienated to a certain degree, down from time to time and needy of support every now and then, you might have had a better understanding of others who mightn't be in the exact same group as yourself, but who do still suffer the backlash because they're different.

Lately you've been saying he's not approachable, a stuck up tosspot, you've questioned his circumstances with C'Wood etc ...

Yet around this time last year after a night of of overindulging which resulted with you spending a little bit of time with him, you declared to everyone on here that he was a "cult hero". You must have liked him warts and all then, yeah? I guess things and people change.

Nick's himself, which is probably better than being fake.... and if his own team mates don't have a problem with him, and he keeps contributing the way he has of late and gives you a reason to celebrate....am i a fool for thinking that the rest of him really doesn't concern anyone else?

There is another way at looking at this ....ever noticed that sometimes the people who go out of their way to prove they don't care, care the most. Just a thought.

Why have i now got the urge to go and read 'The Genius Of The Crowd'?

                            Beautifully put. Really.

On a slight tangent: Most of Melbourne still see Bazza as a thug. Yet who opened their house to the team after Wally's death? Who calls his young "brother" almost every day? Strange how perception, when based on a few brief moments, is almost always wrong.

I know his father and step-mother. They are fantastic people, and good family usually rubs off on people eventually... even if there is a need to rebel for a few years first.
