    Crowd today

Would the AFL be disturbed by the 29,777 at the MCG on a pretty good Saturday afternoon?

Doesn't say much for what our crowd is likely to be against West Coast down there.

Richmond are a weakened power at the moment, I know that, but even in that case, surely this match should have drawn more?

The commentators on 774 suggested that there was probably more Swans supporters at the game, than Tiger fans.

If that's true, the crowd is probably just a direct reflection of the 'anti-bandwagon' effect.
Remember, those guys have lost 14 in a row now.

The commentators on 774 were correct. We out numbered the tigers fans greatly. There was red and white everywhere!!!! I was sitting at the city end of the ground. and was looking straight towards the cheer squad. That stand was nearly all red, and there was another huge mass on the other side of the punt Rd goals!!

yeah i remember one shot on tv that was on the wing (where the main camera was) that was all red and white. any outsider would have thought it was our home game

I'd believe it. Whenever I get down to Melbourne for a game, I'm always amazed by how many Swans supporters emerge.
          Personally, I hardly know any.

That's one reason why I really wouldn't be that upset if we were force to play at the MCG next week.

The other reason is, that given today's results, we are very likely to meet St Kilda at the MCG in the second week of the finals (if we make it). That would make 3 weeks at the MCG in a row. Gotta help.

The ground yes, not the travelling.

5 weeks of hotels and airports to win a flag isn't ideal.

The Olympic stand side of the ground was just about full of Swans supporters, it felt like we had four bays of cheer squad.
More Swans supporters were squashed into one or two bays of the Southern Stand and then upstairs on the top level of the SS seemed to be full of Swans fans, we sure seemed to outnumber the Tigers.
A great turn up for the aftermatch at the Lakeside oval and then we broke all records for pizza afterwards.
Just sitting here having hot choc and cheesecake for supper.

Great turnout by the Melbourne based Swans fans. If only we could sit together as one group instead of 3 different groups throughout the ground. Ah well at least the Cheer Squad got up Richo's nose - good job to start us off Anni.

The MCC members area looked almost empty and the AFL members not much better.

There was certainly a massive amount of red visible. The caps we all got this year make a big difference.

Those caps are such a hit this year.

Surely people would have bought a hat previously if they loved them so much. As they were free this year, I ask the question: Are we the AFL's biggest tight arse fan base?

stop me if I'm wrong, but isn't all the press saying we'll be playing the Weagles at the Telstra Stadium in Sydney???

I think that poor crowd has probably tipped a Telstra Stadium Home Final in our favour. If they can barely manage 30,000 with a Melbourne team playing - what will a game with no Melbourne team get?? Especially compared with the potentially 60,000+ a Telstra Stadium match MIGHT get...

What is the west coast support like in Sydney?
