    Kirky's Baby

I'm not sure whether I have missed the news anywhere but does anyone know if Brett Kirk's wife has delivered her beautiful baby yet. Hope it's a boy - that would be good in a few years time under the father/son rule. Brett played really well yesterday - didn't seem too distracted by events that had happened or were happening in Sydney. Hope all is well for the new Kirk family

Just heard the new on radio SEN 'behind enemy lines' that Brett Kirk's wife had her baby yesterday - did't say if it was a boy or girl, just said that the swans are very relieved that Brett will be right to play this Saturday night without any distractions. Congratulations to Brett and his wife great news!!

Let's hope she and bub don't go home till Sunday so that Kirky will be fully rested.

Maybe she should stay in hospital until 27/9 to avoid disruptions!

I understand the baby is lacking in some key skills that would be required for an AFL footballer, such as walking and talking, and is a bit undersized at about 50 centimetres in length and about 3 to 3.5 kg in weight. The baby will need several years of development before being ready for drafting at AFL level. Being about 18 years under the minimum draft age is also going to be a hindrance for a while.

Though I hear the baby is pretty good under packs but currently is being touted for basketball due to superior dribbling skills.

I've had the pleasure if watching Brett up close with the little (under 6) kids at the Clinic days. He is amazing with the little ones. There were so many of little ones in his group and not being one of the 'names' at the time he didn't have the extra pressure of Hall or Magic. Not that I think this would have made a difference, to him or the kids.

He is certainly a person who has his feet firmly planted and with His teaching and communication skills and from what I've read Hayley's too this little bub will be a well rounded one.

My Best wishes Brett and Hayley.

I've no doubt you'll both find much joy in starting your new family. I only hope your little one will get as much out life as (it appears) you both do.

I wouldn't consider an inability to talk to be a disadvantage for any league player - more of a relief.
...but at 3.0-3.5kg the kid will definatley need to put in some serious gym time during the off-season.
However, I'm sure the AFL will waive the draft minimum age for us - we're the golden child remember.
Collingwood supporters are reporting that the Kirk baby would be certain to go in the First Round (if not top 3) if the Swans do not take him under father-son.

You may have read a post of mine under the thread about Nicknames.

In the Perth sports pages recently a journalist gave Brett Kirk the epithet of "Damian Peverill look alike".
He was way off of course. Peverill is as ugly as sin. Kirk on the other hand is pretty good looking (I'm saying that as a bloke - with no ulterior motive!).

One hopes the baby doesn't resemble Peverill!
