    Bevan shortlisted for Rising Star

    The story is here

Not sure how many of the 22 are shortlisted though.

    I don't think there is a literal short-list

I think they just mean he is one of the favourites

Most football judges agree (even the Melbourne media!) that the winner will come from one of Rivers, Hadley, Bevan or Davey

i would love him to get it, i am sure he is the future gun midfielder of the swans. he is so hard at the ball it's scary.

however, i think the rising star tends to be given to players with a bit of flashiness to their game, "marketable" types. therefore i reckon Davey will get it. (not that there would be much wrong with that, davey rules)

I agree .. Bevan is going to poll strongly, but my tip for the Rising Star award is Davey, assuming the three or so weeks he missed to injury won't count against him too much.

Davey also has the advantage of playing as a forward wheras Bevo has done a lot of work down back.
Everyone knows that forwards get all the accolades.

What about the sealer he kicked against Carlton?

Are we going to have the same coverage on here as we did last year?

I agree and will be supprised if Davey is top 3.

                    For mine:

                    1 Rivers
                    2. Hadley
                    3. Bevan

I hope Bevan wins though. He has played every game in a team that has finished 6th. Not a bad effort.

                      player compare
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Bevo's stats look awesome until you get to the FA column 24 against - that being said playing in the backline compared to the forward line usually can result in that happening

The coverage starts of Fox Footy @ 12.30pm

Jared Rivers has played all year at CHB but his FA column is a lot healthier than Bevo's. However, Bevo has a ferocious attack on the ball, and his inexperience has proved to be a bit reckless at times this year. If he can get that under control, opposition players may wish to avoid a contest with him in the future like they do with BBBH.

The prob that Bevo has to contest with against the other short-listed players is when he played Melb he didn't have a great an impact on the games as the others did - and that his 2nd half of the year wasn't as strong as the first in disposals - which will be taken into account, but as they say numbers can look deceiving.

(Prime eg: Carlton R14 - only 10 disposals but his impact on that game was v. high)

Jarrad Rivers won the Rising Star.

With an unanimous vote at the end - he went from 0 to 45

Bevo finished in 4th spot with 17 votes.
