    Earl Shaw

An 18 year old, almost 200cm ruckman .... in the draft, been playing for Campbelltown.

Mixed reports about him, anyone here seen him?

Many times since he was around 12 as either an opponent or teammate (in rep teams) of my son. Haven't seen him play for the last two years though.

While being quite good at junior level he never struck me (or others) as being outstanding. Mostly it was his height but he could be beaten by an opponent with more leap or nous. My son (now 190cm) usually came off even with him in rucking duels.

Played for Penrith juniors - easily recognised by long flowing hair that his father hated (plus being one of the taller kids around). He dominated in what was otherwise a mediocre team.

Apparently he has progressed considerably since I last saw him play. Does he still have the long hair?

Doubt it that anyone from Campbelltown could make it. The team did diddly-squat this season, a real shocker, which in itself is quite surprising to me. Difficult to be "noticed" in a team that doesn't win a match for the season...but good luck to him.
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

He got some good reports from the National U18 champs earlier this year. Has also been playing with the RAMS. Wasn't playing with Campbelltown U18s - would definitely have noticed him.

Campbelltown were forced to throw him into the seniors this year before he was really ready to play at that level.
With Campbelltown failing to win a game, I didn't see much of them in my travels around the local league this year; but when I did I saw a team with plenty of young kids who were desperate to keep trying. Earl Shaw was sometimes one of their better players, but he's still very raw and I think he's at least a year away from being draft material.

Is he the Shaw that's been playing for our reserves this year?
We all dream of a team of BLTs!

Pretty sure that it is. If it is, he's been quite impressive. Decent build (ie not too skinny) and very lively.

                  Earl Shaw.

Sounds like a gunslinger from the wild west.
