I like nothing better than seeing that little weasel Matera being beaten. Fantastic game by Nicks. That mark he took in the last quarter towering over Matera was brilliant.

Why was Nicks ever played on the forward line. His pace and clean disposal has added so much to our backline. Now we have 3 quick running defensive players who are making very clean disposal.

Barry was good and so was Kennelly who I don't think had a clanger tonight.

Nicks has been one of my favourite players for a long time, and I was disappointed when he lost form in recent seasons. But he was back to his defensive best tonight, to hold Matera kickless is a great achievement.

Agree. Could be a great 're-discovery' back there.

He was great, but don't get too carried away. He played on a much smaller player who received very poor service from players upfield.

I had my doubts earlier this year about whether Nicks had a place on our list next year, but now I am sure of it - he has rediscovered his best form this year... in the backline.

Credit tonight to the coaching staff for creating that match-up freeing the likes of Barry and Kennelly to focus on being the first line of attacking players for us.

That's true to a certain extent, but Matera kicks an awful lot of goals from crumbing, and every time he gathered the ball tonight Nicks was all over him.

Sensational effort by the whole backline, keeping the Weagles to 4 goals for the match!!

Matthew Nicks has just earnt himself a contract extension!!

                          Guerra, Milne or Hamill

They were talking on Ten whether or not Hamill will be fit - can we throw bloody Gehrig into that mix of being fit

I think it might go Schauble - Gehrig, Barry - Reihwolt, Nicks - Guerra, C. Bolton - Hamill, Crouch - Milne.

It also depends if Thomas makes any changes from the team that was walloped against Brisbane.

i think Leo will get first shot at Gehrig...after the demolition job he did on him last time...But agree that Hamill, if he plays may change this as I cant see a logical player to take him

Nicks on Milne? similar player to Matera...an annoying little weasel about sums them both up. am assuming Milne will be back....maybe to replace Guerra who may be cited for a slightly raised elbow
