I had no doubts that Port would flog the Cats and if they meet the Sainters next week I'm sure they'll do the same.
If they meet Sydney however.... they should hold on to that win as it's the best they're going to get this year.

Port ferals have to be the worst (along with Collingwood) supporters of the competition. They boo EVERYTHING!

But seriously, congrats on beating WC.....good luck against the Saints, you should win fairly comfortably against them. IT will be a different matter the following week though.
We are a good chance against the Saints, especially because the game will be played outside the hermetically-sealed environment to which they are accustomed.

Assuming the Swans do beat the Saints, the Port-Sydney final will be an excellent game.

If the Swans demolish the Saints as comprehensively as we did the Eagles, Port will have a serious fight on its hands. West Coast played man-on-man football against us in the final, and it netted them a grand total of 2 goals and 5 behinds in the last three quarters.

Agreed. I just hope we beat St Kilda to get that chance - I'll be very disappointed (in terms of losing and in terms of missed opportunities) if we don't.

I actually thought Port were very, very good, bordering on ominous. They will be favourites going into the prelim final, no matter who they play.

Once they get on a roll they can slam on quick goals - something we don't do as well.

Anyway... must beat the Saints first.

I would have been much happier if and when we reach the prelim final to have played Port Adelaide at the MCG. We got under their guard last year with a great battling performance, but we were ahead all day. If we get behind and have to chase the game it will be very very tough, but then again we're a pretty tough team.

When you look at Essendon's charmed run it is tempting to think the Swans are on the tough side of the finals draw. Then you realise Brisbane are waiting for them in the preliminary final

Im pretty supprised at how under rated Port are here, too me they looked pretty good against Geelong and controlled the game exactly as they would have wanted too.

Also being an ex South Aussie who was bought up to hate all things Port Adelaide I have also learnt to have a gruding respect for them and they were the team I would least want to play.

Dont put too much into beating them last year as we were painted the great underdog with no hope at all, Port were going to walk all over us. But Port is a different and a much better team than last year.

But first of all we have to get over St Kilda.......

                            Where did you read that?

My understanding is that the AFL would unquestionably pay for their airfares, as they do for every team that travels every rouund of the competition. Or at least, that was what was reported when that story arose early in the season about the Dees not being able to afford to stay up for one extra night in Sydney until a fruit sponsor came through and paid for it. It was reported that the AFL pays for flights and one nights accomodation.

I heard a grab from a press conference. He was asking the AFL to pay for a chartered plane to Melb.My wording gave the wrong impression.

Yep - I heard a little bit that was saying that the AFL should charter a plane, not that the AFL should pay airfares (which they do anyway). Seems reasonable to limit the amount of disruption as much as possible.
