    I want revenge!!!!!!

As a 10 yo boy I managed to get standing room tickets to the 1970 first semi final. I was there amongst 104,000 fans (no chance of such numbers today) to see my Swannies in the finals for the first time since 1945. Skiltons first (and only) final.

As I squeezed my way to the front row just so I could see, I was on top of the world as Skilts led the team out through what I thought was the biggest banner of all time. This was my first ever final, and what a game to be at. The Swans were in the finals, and having accounted for St Kilda more times than not in the past, thoughts of losing did not enter this 10yo's mind.

How wrong I was. Suddenly things began to go all wrong, and I remember thinking, how this was so unfare on Bobby Skilton, but just when all seemed lost, South fought back and there was a real sense of "we can do this". At half time we led by 5 points, having one of those second quarters where you don't want the siren to go.

Unfortunately that was it. We lost by nearly 9 goals. Bloody St. Kilda stuffed up Skilts day. I hated them for it, and have hated them ever since. Whenever they have played in finals I have barracked against them. 1997, I was one out in the pub with everyone barracking for St Kilda. I was one very happy person when Adelaide got up!!!!!!

I know we beat them on the SCG in a final in 98, but that didn't knock them out completely. I want to smash them this week on the MCG. Repay them for ruining Skilts day.

For 34 years I have waited to expunge the memory of Skilts day being ruined. Friday is revenge day.

PS. I am not bitter and twisted at all

That's quite a memory for you there Doctor. Obviously left a lasting impression on one so young -- the crowd, the noise, the excitement. Not to mention Bobby himself!

And then the brave but ultimately disappointing performance. With the crushing realisation that the football season is over and the wait will last another year. And I bet that every time it's happened -- as it invariably has in every finals appearance since -- that the awful feeling never gets any easier to take.

I hope you are granted revenge, Dr.J. I hope that the Football God grants you this and 2 more wins to help erase some of the pain of a lifetime of flagless barracking.

        GO THE SWANS
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

            My own St Kilda story

I never had a problem with St Kilda until a game at Moorabbin in 1986.

The Swannies with Williams, Healy and co had won the match in the quagmire (always muddy to bring opposition to their level) and I was leaving the ground happily when a St Kilda supporter surrounded by 4 mates spat on me - since that day I forgot that they were losers and have barracked against them with a vengeance.

I know it was a supporter and not the team that did this...but the majority all seem to have fallen off the same tree.

Spat on you? You have every right to hate them then.

Surely the Saints want to get on with mad Monday?

I was a teenager when I saw the 70's semi final from the stands and cried all the way home. As I mentioned in the "Why Do You Follow The Swans" topic, I think it was the sight of Bobby Skilton with his head bowed holding that champagne that upset me the most. You just knew that he was thinking he would never get another chance to play finals footy and sadly he was right. I've always thought he probably never opened the champagne and just gave the bottle to someone else ....

I'm still sad thinking about it now. They say revenge is a dish best served cold and it should be very cold after 34 years!

Just another reason for the Swannies to win on Friday ... let's do it for Skilts!
Lord, help me to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
And if there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went!

They haven't changed and that is why the St.Kilda members area at Moorabbin was called the animal enclosure....

After the Swans vs Richmond game last weekend these bozo St.Kilda fans at Young & Jacksons were TRYING to bag my Dad & Sister and a few mates in regard to being Swans supporters from Sydney, having no idea about the game, bandwagon supporters etc etc.

I had to advise the bozo's in a calm matter of fact way that we have been following the Swans for over 30 years and, in my Da's case, over 50 years.

The bozo's still wouldn't let up, saying the Swans are mercenaries in regard to Hall, Lockett & O'Brien and the AFL bails the Swans out all the time financially.

Well, that got me going and I explained to the uneducated git that St.Kilda are mercenaries ( ie. Hamill, Gehrig, Powell, Guerra etc etc ) as well and that the Swans are the only club to pay three licence fees to join/stay in the VFL/AFL.

I then advised the bozo's that St.Kilda should have been kicked out of the comp years ago through poor administration over the years and that Grant Thomas cannot be trusted and is a dog, due to recruiting and then axing both Tim Watson and Malcolm Blight in his role as Football Manager, whereby he then had the nerve to put his hand up to coach the club because he knew they had a great list through all there top five draft picks.

The bozo's couldn't handle this and wanted to take us all on, which we excepted with glee before the no-neck security guards came over to quell the angry ex-animal enclosure bozo's.....

The moral of this story is that even though the animal enclosure at Moorabbin is no longer, they are still out there at the MCG, Telstra Dome, Y & J's and numerous pubs around the Melbourne CBD. Beware of these St.Kilda supporting ex animal enclosure bozo's, as they have suffered plenty of angst over the years with little or no dignity !
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

As has been said before by others on this Board, when the Aints supporters start moaning about us pinching Hall, Lockett & O'Brien, just ask them how Foschini & Morwood are going these days.

                    Short memories some people.

As for the financial side of the arguement, I usually abide by the rule of "never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience" Works for me every time.

As the saying goes, you can take the St Kilda fan out of the animal enclosure but you can't take the animal enclosure out of the St Kilda fan (or something like that).

They are all ferals and deserve no pity for their decades of mediocrity.

StK have been very well rewarded for both Lockett and Hall... it's not like they weren't leaving anyway, and we did give them fair currency, from which they benefited greatly.

Having said that... I would be very happy to steal Riewolt from them!!

Sure this will get a work-out fri night - they have nad always have had more mercenaries than Sydney.

Geez Hamill, Gehrig, Voss, Black, Powell, Penny etc etc - they practically invented going the poach.
