Has everyone forgotten his performance 9 days ago. Give him a break. He is naturally talented and doesn't have to work as hard as others. Any other team in the AFL would grab him. he will probably have a great game on Friday.

He seems to think he doesn't have to work as hard as other players. That's his problem which makes it the Swans problem.
A good game against Richmond doesn't make up for a lack of dedication throughout the season.
Davis shouldn't play if there is any hint of an injury. He doesn't chase at the best of times. The Saints defenders will run off him every time as the West Coast did.
He is talented but he is frustrating the crap out of me.

You should stick to the facts with your bash Nick Davis campaign. Goodsey was in the paper on Friday or Saturday "complaining" about his injuries and how he couldn't "just get out there and run".
I read Nick's comments (like Goodsey's) as frustration, not complaining.
If you think the Swans would be a better team without him then you need your head read.

            Davis to miss Swans' semi
            September 6, 2004

FORWARD Nick Davis is expected to miss Sydney's AFL knockout semi-final against St Kilda on Friday night because of a sore foot.

Davis had little impact against West Coast on Saturday after a possible stress fracture restricted him mostly to the bench.

While Davis was having a scan today, coach Paul Roos said he would not take any risk selecting the sharpshooting forward if he was not 100 per cent fit.

"A shoulder injury is something you can get a jab for but when you are talking about feet and ankles and things like that you need to run around, twist and turn," Roos said.

"I would think if he's not at a very, very high level of fitness we wouldn't consider him this week."

The problem is a recurrence of a badly bruised ankle Davis suffered in round 10.

Roos nominated Jarrad McVeigh, Mark Powell, Sean Dempster, Heath James as all pushing for selection.

"Nic Fosdike's an interesting one - he's a quality player but whether he's also had enough game time to be able to play in a final at this stage of his preparation is a question," Roos said.

Fosdike suffered a knee injury in round 18 and played his first game back in the the reserves last weekend without being listed among the side's best.

And Magic was speaking earlier this year and also last year about constantly having to play through pain.

I think you will find that Nick wants to play but Roos won't let him in the end. Seems to me that Nick might of foxed Roos into playing him on Saturday night.

Look i wasnt bashing him. I think he is a great player when he goes out there and tries. Goodsey and Magic go out there and say that they are in pain, yet they go out there and bust their asses and try their best. Can u honestly say that about Davis in every game? When he doesnt get into the game, it looks as if he couldnt give a stuff.

He looks physically capable to me when he kicks 5 goals against the tigers, yet when he plays a bad game its due to "injury." Goodes looks like he is physically struggling everytime he is out there, even if he plays well as he did last saturday.

I never said he was a bad player, i just think he does not realise how lucky he is to be out there playing footy for a career. Perhaps i should have been more accurate in my criticism. Its ok for players to state that they have injuries as Goodes and Magic have done. But Davis has taken it to the next level considering moving to league, going AWOL on clubs etc.

I just hope it doesnt happen again and that he knuckles down and works hard. He is very important part of our team and when he fires, we have an unstoppable forward line.

Just my opinion, but even our coach says that Nick is great only when his head is in the right place, and there is no denying that at times it isnt.

Geee i wish i was paid a load of money to play a sport and laze around playing XBOX and eating junk food when injured.

Instead i wake up early and go work my butt of for nothing.

                      Gee grow up already Nick!

Sorry but those of you defending Nick havent really got any legs to stand on..we have many players who have had worst injuries than Nick and they do the extra hard yards to get back out there without much whining.

The difference between Goodes and Davis is that one did his knee in a very public way, where there was no way you could hide it from anyone, let alone the media.

The other's injury was not thought to be an issue/excuse until mentioned of after a poor performance. A bit of a coincidence if you ask me.

Note: I am not questioning his value to the team, as he is easily in our best 18 IMO.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.

that is true about Goodes and his injury but sometimes the onus is on the coach to make prudent decisions. Roos said yesterday on radio that Davis was very sore before the match after his injury flared up on Tuesday. Past experience should have told him that he is nowhere near his optimum under these circumstances. I thought he looked as if he couldn't accelerate the other night. Sometimes knee injuries aren't as bad, ankle ones take away your power so the mediocs and coaches should consider this. At looks as if Roos is now taking this on board. BTW I did post at the time of his injury that I thought bone bruising takes about six months to recover from and the surrounding tissues etc. are usually inflamed and stressed due to over-compensation. No way will he be near his best this year again.

A flare-up in the foot could easily explain last Saturday night. Nick is an extremely valuable player and I don't mind his laconic attitude so long as he continues to provide results as he has in every other game he's played in this season. He has taken some amazing marks and seems to be a regular target for opposition defences, niggling, barging and thumping - cops more than some of his team mates because he is perceived as soft. I hope he gets rested this week - we'll need him against Brisbane.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
