Liz I certainly agree with your views on Fozzie however, if we are going to trade for a key position player, experienced player as Roos has stated we need to at least offer a decent player in return. Out of the current crop, Fozzie would be good enought to attract keen interest but also if he leaves it is not going to leave a huge hole in our side.

To get good players you have to trade good players!

I don't disagree with that. But whether Fosdike gets picked for this weekend or not is irrelevant.

SYDNEY, Sept 8 AAP - Injury-prone Sydney forward Nick Davis didn't even make it on to the training track tonight as he was ruled out of Friday's AFL semi-final against St Kilda at the MCG.

The skilful goal kicker hurt a foot in last weekend's match against West Coast and the Swans' match committee decided against risking him on Friday, despite Davis being cleared of a fracture.

"After he had a scan, there was a certain relief there was no stress fracture, but if we put him out to train tonight, it could turn into a stress fracture," Sydney coach Paul Roos said.

However, Roos wasn't yet prepared to rule Davis out of any future finals games should the Swans prevail on Friday.

"Not at all. If he recovers sufficiently. I think he just needs to get out and train," Roos said.

"It's very hard after the season he has had to ask him to play in the circumstances when he can't train and there's a possibility of it becoming more serious."

Roos said if Sydney advanced and Davis was able to train pain-free by next Wednesday he would be considered for selection.

With the Saints also expected to be without a forward in Aaron Hamill, Roos suggested the Swans would go for a midfielder, rather than a forward to replace Davis.

"If you take on face value that Hamill is not playing, and I suppose at this stage you probably are, it would probably be unlikely we would bring another tall in, so it would probably be (midfielder Jarrad) McVeigh coming in."

While Davis' journey was interrupted, newly announced All Australian representative Brett Kirk was celebrating the end of a long and successful one.

The midfielder was yesterday named in the team along with two colleagues, back Leo Barry and forward Barry Hall.

Kirk today recalled how he started on the Swans' supplementary list at the age of 19 and went home for a couple of years before being placed on the Swans' rookie list.

"I thought I was nearly out the door three years ago, to get this individual honour is pretty amazing," Kirk said.

Asked to elaborate, Kirk recalled the final stages of previous coach Rodney Eade's reign.

"I was told my opportunities were going to be reduced so I was thinking what I would be doing the year after, but Roosy came on board and gave me a run with this type of role and it's gone on from there," Kirk said.

Another Swan also celebrating a career renaissance was forward Amon Buchanan, who was delisted at the end of last season, only for Sydney to pick him up and give him another chance.

"Twelve months ago, if you told me I would have been playing finals come September I would have been pretty stoked," Buchanan said.

Kirk's All Australian selection capped off a fantastic seven days after his wife gave birth to their first child last week.

"I'm feeling great at the moment, it's just an unforgettable week," Kirk said.
