Congratulations to Leo Barry, Barry Hall and Brett Kirk. Well don - so pleased not to see creepy Lloyd and Hird - wow what a change.
    Love those Swans

Given that there are at least 50 players in the AFL who could make legitimate claims for the team, the similarity between Sheehan's team and the All Australian is incredible. For example, Kirk is on the bench and Leo plays back pocket (not HBF) in both. If I were Sheehan, I would be accusing them of stealing my work.

Unbelievably, instead he is whinging about the minor variations between the two teams:

No Hird, No Lloyd, No Way

Putting Lloyd on the interchange bench is meaningless tokenism, particularly when you have 2 other players beyond Gehrig who can play specialist full-forward already wandering around on the park! As I understand it, you're picking the best team to play a match, not just compiling a list of the best 22 players in the AFL.

Probably should have included Peter Everitt and not included either Jones or Clement.

Than again, I'm not sure if ruckmen are really needed in international rules (is the AA side the int'l side, or is that another team?).

I understand the motive of your question, but I will answer it anyway.

They play Ireland in Dublin in October. A celebration of the number 1 codes of each country, native codes at that.

Typical response to this team on Grumpy Old Men last night. The panel were going at KB for leaving out a whole bunch of Victorian players.

If they included 5 players from Richmond team, would that make them happier?

Very fair point. At least if you're playing with the oval ball, you've gotta have 2 ruckmen and Everitt (or Cam Mooney- joke!) should have been on the bench.

My understanding is that in theory this is the side to play Ireland, but in practice many players picked can't go to Ireland/couldn't be bothered playing. Hence Kirky playing for Australia in '03.

jeff white essentially played lone hand in the ruck all season long for melbourne. therefore, he wouldnt need a back up.
