As a long time Swans fan in Brisbane who went to the game on Saturday night in Sydney (who can't afford to go again to Melbourne on Friday night) plus have to work Friday, I now find we can't get the game on FTA TV until 9.40 pm or FOX until 11.30. Talk about one of the big games of the season for AFL fans in Brisbane and no coverage until late. What a joke Ch10 is. During the season FOX had Friday night games at 9.30pm then move them back 2 hours for the finals. To make matters worse they are only showing something called OPRAH'S HOLLYWOOD SPECTACULAR. Yet they are showing the game live on the Gold Coast. Can someone please explain that to me?

I guess the reasoning why it is not live into Bris, is a question of ratings. If Bris were playing this weekend, then I am sure their game would have been live into Bris.
As for why the GC gets it live, I guess it is a case like here when NSW regionals get Friday night games live but not here into Sydney (except this Friday)
My only suggestion if you know anyone on the GC get down there to see it "live"

940 for the non Lions game is better than we got in sydney last week. 11.15 on 10, 11.30 on fox footy. Tho they DID show ch10 Melb via Main Event (ads & all) but was @ 8.30. Why wasn't it Live?????

This tv deal is better than the old one but it STILL STINKS.

Agree but at least in Sydney you had the option of going to the game. In Brisbane the game is 1700km's away and a $500 airfare because it is Friday night. (no discounts on Fri pm at short notice)

Good chance fox footy will cut a deal with 10. Last week the Brions Aints game was originally to be on Fox at 11.30, but was also at the last minute put on Main Event (free) at 8.30.

thats global for you i spose. (BTW, global own are huge chunk of network ten and want to be majority owned if it wasnt for the media laws in aus.

Channel 10 have been fantastic for the Swans. Have committed commercial suicide in Sydney by backing the Swans against Bledilsoe (although probably under contractual obligation by the AFL). Watch the massacre they face in Sydney against League this Friday. No way in the world they are going to do it in Brisbane. I can't understand why people get so wound up about this. They are a publicly listed company who rely solely on advertising dollars and have responsibility to shareholders. Harsh folks, but true. Oprah will rate better in Brisbane. When the Wallabies played South Africa from Perth, we got killed in the ratings and we were playong Brisbane at the SCG ! Our numbers were so low that night that at times there were nearly as many in the ground as there were watching on TV. Even SBS outrated us at times, and we got slaughtered by Snow White on 9.

personally speaking, i have never ever known anyone who has.

just makes you think whose viewing habits are being monitored....

my point exactly? what freaks are sending ratings up for crap like big brother and decent shows like a swannies game or a good old doco on SBS have nada???

Because they are showing the game live on the GC will they also show it live on the SC

Unfortunately I was the victim of one of the surveys where you had to fill out about 500 pages over the month of what you watched and listened to. In the end I just picked all the shows I liked and filled them in.

Just saw an ad on Fox Footy that says the Saturday night final this week (Essendon v Geelong) will be at 11pm. Ten have it scheduled at 10.45pm. Could be another late night...
