    Footy Ponchos - Melbourne People

    Good Day

With the threat of rain tonight I was wondering where I can purchase a poncho, as I will be sitting outside, with no shelther from the stands.

Any ideas ? Thanks in advance

When we played at Optus Oval earlier in the year, we tried to buy some and were told that they no longer make them, I hope that's not correct.

They sell them at the game usually, but you can also get them from KMart I think.

A couple of years ago I purchase a couple from an army surplus and camping store for about $5 each. I suggest you try army disposal places, it's likely to be cheaper than at the ground!

It's also handy to keep one in your bag at all times, so if the weather does close in when you are at the game then you are prepared.

I usually go to Aussie Disposals, most camping stores sell them, they are better than the ones that were sold at the ground, tough plastic and touch the ground when sitting.

Aussie Disposals have a shop at 283 Elizabeth street and lots of shops in the suburbs.

Don't forget to do the "Poncho man" song if it starts raining.

A surplus/disposal store would be a good idea although if they only sold them in green it would be a shame.

A clear poncho with a hood would be ideal, you can still display your Red & White colours for all to see.

I've not heard this song, but let me guess the tune and some of the lyrics:

(to the tune of the Village People's "Macho Man")
                    Poncho Poncho Man
I want to be a Poncho Man

The ponchos I bought were clear.

Just got a phone call from AnniSwan, she just bought two ponchos at Aussie Disposals for $1.95 each, and the better quality ones are $6.95.
From my memory the Geelong Aussie Disposals have blue and clear Ponchos.
