Has been poor - paying marginal free kicks in front of goal in a final.
Having said that, we haven't played well enough for 3/4 to be in the game or be able to blame the umpiring, but its amazing what an umpiring decision can do to kill momentum.

Originally posted by NMWBloods At 14-10 free kicks in favour of us, it's hard to objectively complain too much.
It is when you get to within 10 pts and have one paid right in front that essentially kills the momentum.
Comparing the number paid for and against doesn't really come into it.
Using that logic you couldn't complain if we lost the match to an incorrect free on the final siren if we had be awarded more frees for the match.

That's why I deleted my post - I decided it wasn't really accurate. Still, I dislike the fact that everyone time we lose we whinge about the umpiring. Sure it can have an effect, but we lost tonight because of our abysmal play.

Well and truly beaten by the better team on the night. They came out ready for more physical contests than we did....perhaps a lesson they learned from their game last week.

Agree with all that. Saints have gone in harder than us all night. Would have been interesting to see how things would have gone had Milne not gotten that free though. We did have momentum at that stage. Having 3 injured players didn't help much either though.

We played @@@@.
I dont blame the umpiring for us losing, just for killing our momentum when there was a chance for us to get back.
I actually think Goodes has a lot of explaining to do after tonight's effort. As I posted before his OOBOTF in the 2nd gave them the spark they needed. He was playing off his man all night.

As I've said before - Goodes is not a backman's bootlace. He's a follower.
The finals series really summed up our season I think.
