    St.Kilda

Good luck to the Sainters, they outplayed us tonight.

It still never ceases to amaze me how many free kicks are paid against us that result in gift goals. Three tonight and a mark that wasn't held, all paid by Brett Allen except Mclaren's ludicrous holding decision on Nicks against Milne.

We still cannot buy a free kick inside 50.

I cannot fathom how there are not three adequate umpires in SA or WA who can umpire finals between a Victorian and a interstate side.

Well played Jude Bolton and Nicksy.

I enjoyed the year nonetheless, up and down as usual!

Yes they were by far the better side. Jude was superb for us in a beaten team.

Jude definitely played well - unfortunately he didn't have a supporting cast tonight.

Congrats to the Sainters - I hope they beat Port next week (even though Port deserve to play in a GF), but I'm still hoping the Lions make it 4 on the trot now that we're out of it.

I am beginning to think that to get the frees inside 50, we have to flood back into defense less, and get the ball inside F50 more. It's very difficult for umpires to pay a free inside our F50 when there's nobody there to cause infringements.

I suspect that when we can get the ball inside F50 as often as the other top-8 sides do, we will get a few extra frees from stoppages that may develop there. That is the next step we have to take - improve our midfield so that when Maxfield and Williams retire, we have the new midfield in place. Our midfield has been reduced in potency in the last three years with the retirements of Kelly, Cresswell and Schwass, and until our midfield gets back that kind of class we won't go anywhere in the finals.

I thought we actually got 2 or 3 frees in front of goal,
Buchanon 1st goal 1st qtr, MOL 2nd qtr, and B1 in the 3rd. Could've been more not sure.

And TS you are right, if there is no one if the F50, how can they pay frees to an empty F50???
