I have only followed the swans for 9 years but every year we get knocked out of the finals by getting comprehensivley thrashed, and im not having a go at them. 96 to the kangaroos, 97 buldogs, 98 crows, 99 bombers, 01 hawks, 03 lions and 04 saints.
same old story

Why do we always get pumped to go out of the finals??? Because the team has this habit of giving up when all is lost. We gave up in the third quarter and St Kilda killed us. We do it time and time again and tonight I wasn't in the least surprised about it.Once was, now elsewhereComment

Yep. Now that I'm back home, I've broken out some "Rare breed" Wild Turkey and had some bongs, and a little perspective has crept in. I viewed the team tonight as the dumb white trash on The price is right at the showcase play-off. Somehow we got this far, despite playing an un-attractive game, only to lose it all in a dismal fashion (no way was the fridge going to cost more than the holiday). Well done to the team for not adjusting the trend, and to the supporters who get their hopes up for no apparent reason.Originally posted by robbieando

Depends on where the holiday is to and what brand of fridge it is doesn't it?
I feel like a fool. Sitting at work today with my Swans scarf on, telling co-workers we were a good chance to progress to next week, getting all excited about watching a good game, only to be bitterly disappointed.

We got to within 11 in the 3rd!! We were on a roll, then another pathetic piece of umpiring took away our momentum! We gave up in the third quarter- Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!Comment

and then it was all downhill from there. We tried nothing else to get back in the game. We just bent over and took what the Saints gave us.Originally posted by motorace_182

I had the same thought just moments ago, so I had a quick read of 'why do you follow the Swans' and was reminded of exactly that.Originally posted by robbieando
