    We deserved to lose...

    because:

    A. Nicks (last weeks best defender) wasn't played on Milne.
    B. Matchups that were failing dismally were persisted with.
    C. Our players were nowhere to be seen when the Aints had the ball for much of the play.
    D. I've said it all season and I'll say it until someone rectifies it-our forwards wouldn't have a clue when it comes to defending their own goals.

I don't care what statistic says about any of our p1ssweak mob, that was not anywhere near a credible performance!!!

In summation, I was at the game (no TV/Radio for me tonight) and had an excellent view of ALL of the play from where I was sitting, and the only I positive I can find (aside from AB's early goal) is that my tickets didn't cost me anything. Still, I thought we would/should have been bundled out last week.

Actually I think you'll find Nicks gave away at least two frees that led to Milne goals.

How do you think the Eagles would have played tonight had they made it?

A loss-but a closer result than ours. I thought we played some reasonable footy for 10 minutes, then choked for the rest of it. Go Pt. Adelaide next week.

hey, im into a bit of variety (shut up farrell) so im rooting for port to take it out.

bored of bris-vegas winning. and collingwood thankfully wont be there. so it dont matter.

whatchya think about that port feral???

(having actually seen port win a SANFL GF, it isnt that painstaking. i saw c'wood win in '90 which will go down as one of the ugliest days in history. up there with kennett winning the state election in the early 90s)

Normally those words would taste bitter as poison in my mouth, but from here on in, i only wish to see a real contest in the GF. port is the only team left with a hope of giving brisbane that. if they do get in i'll be cheering for brisbane however so i'm getting completely confused.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Definitly go Port...just a case of not wanting a vic team in the GF and for something different Port to win

Obviously you didn't hear Roos's interview after the game. He said once Willo, Mathews and Maxfield were virtually out of the game in the first 15 minutes it made the midfield match ups almost impossible.

So moves like Nicks off Milne into the forward line was part of the patch up. This was also to cover for Micky as he copped one early also and was on one leg. Nicks went back onto Milne late in the game and gave away a free which was an absolute charity as Milne ducked under Nick's arm in the contest, and on the replay it didn't look like contact was made.

My disappointment was that they continued to play the short game in the conditions when instructed not to. Roos said that in his interview. Ablett and Kennelly turned it over by hand when clear, when a long kick to one out contests close to goal was the appropritae option. Then again the dills that called for backward handpasses were as much to blame.

I believe our skills have been down quite a lot on our 2003 standard and need a lot of work in the off season.

Under the circumstances to hang on to 3Q time was a fair effort.

If we played like that against Port next week we would of lost by 100+. If we played like that against Brisbane in the Final we would of lost by 150+. The killer was St. Kildas two late goals at the end of the third as we started to make a come back i.e. actually managed to get the ball to the forwards twice in a row.
