Pathetic Inside 50s

No wonder we had no chance of winning.

Our I50s for the first quarter = 5

Our I50s for the second quarter = 5

Our I50s for first 10 minutes of third quarter = 0

Total I50s = 29

St Kilda's I50s = 45


Just starkly highlights that problem mentioned a few times previously - we don't get the ball to our forwards enough.

For the season I50s:
Swans 44 (sixteenth)
AFL Average 49
Brisbane 55 (first)

Just to have my own little thread...

...another interesting stat reflecting on our lapse midway through the game - from 10 min to go in the second qtr to 10 min gone in the third qtr, we had only two Inside 50s while St Kilda kicked 6 unanswered goals!!

with our flooding tactics there was a few times when there was not one person in the forward 50 hopefully with a key midfielder we can address this issue........but sadly they don't fall of trees or come cheap

We over possessed in the midfield leading to turnovers. They were numerous and we fumbled so much in the midfield that clean disposals into the forward 50 dried up after 1/4 time.

Part of our game we have to fix. Contrary to media opinion we are not a good wet weather team. Sometimes I wonder whether the intelligence level is that high, given the inability to adapt to the conditions and play a long game. Roos said after the game that we failed to grasp the idea of less possessions, as instructed.

Another random stat ... this season, of the teams that we played twice, we won one game and lost the other.

Yes 10 I50 in the first half was pathetic, but we had scored 4 goals 4 behinds, which is an 80% strike rate once in the 50.

If we have a couple of A grade midfielders next year, I'm confident we'll win the flag, that's how inportant midfielders are to our team.

And shows how amazingly potent our forward line can be.

I wouldn't be confident as such, however I think we'd have a really good chance.
