    Melbourne Coverage

Not wanting to whinge too much, but for @#$%*'s sake. Two rounds in to the year and not only is there no Melbourne game on the horizon, but no TV of the Swans, even highlights or delayed - thid despite having played Carlton and being a (nominally) Melbourne club. Geez, I can't bear to do the stats but teams like Brisbane, Richmond, Hawthorn etc, etc will have been on the tele twice even though their games are here.

Wasn't the AFL concerned about their TV coverage affecting the gate? Why can't they organise themselves to always have a Mel team playing interstate so that that can be the TV game and not affect the local gates so much?

    Am I being illogical?

    It gets worse

Two games, no TV (no shock it was the same last year) but, believe it or not neither game on the radio either. Unbelievable.

To finish the whingeing, I notice that Collingwood travel grand total of four times for the entire season including the Wizard cup.

    Unbelievable.

The game is on foxtel on Saturday night. Iagree that the coverage on free to air channels of swans games is a disgrace.

The AFL have forgotten the gate and are more interested in TV rights.

With only 5 Melbourne games this year the AFL could have given us a Pre session cup game or even a practice match, but they didnt.
Having said that , I am not too sure how hard the club argued for more Melbourne games either.

This is shocking, not only was our Wizard Cup match in Sydney and on Foxtel, but we don't get any sort of free to air coverage until next week and no live matches until Round 4. I would of thought with membership down the club would of tried to get as many Melbourne members as possible? 1 practice match would of been nice but again we in Melbourne are forgotten about.
      Once was, now elsewhere

Too true, over the last couple of years we have gone from 8 home and away games and 1 pre session game to 7 H/A games no P/S games to 6 H/A and now only 5 H/A,I dread next year.

Also at least last year we had 10-12 players running around with Port Melbourne in the VFL.........Not any more.
