    Team v Freo

    Backs: R. Warfe A. Schauble C. Bolton
Half Backs: L. Barry J. Saddington B. Mathews
    Centre: T. Kennelly J. Bolton B. Kirk
Half Forwards: P. Williams S. Stevens M. Nicks
    Forwards: A. Schneider B. Hall N. Davis
    Followers: A. Goodes, J. Crouch, S. Maxfield
    Interchange: J. Ball, N. Fosdike, D. McPherson, R. O'Keefe
    Emergency: L. Ablett, M. Powell, J. Sundqvist

So its Schauble in for Doyle, McPherson in for Cresswell and Powell onto the emergencies list for McVeigh

No real surprises, although I would have preferred to see Ablett or Sunny into the 22 and Frosty as the Emergency.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

frosty needs at least 20 possessions to keep his spot imo

Get rid of Frosty please. Bring in the youth and remove the ageing, unless of course it is someone like Cressa who has experience

Frosty is on a perform or perish game plan...

I think that he didn't get the chance with Kell, Scwatta in the team to "strut his stuff". This is his year to show something or go plan... I hope it works - I do recall him on Greg Williams years ago and stopped him dead in his tracks (year after his defection) I think that we all hope he would progress from there....

        Bottom line.

Not to many chances :- because there is a plether of younger ones in the stock pile waiting to get a go....

Frosty could well play a tagging role on Haselby (a proflic ball winner)-both about the same speed . Headland will be a real handful for someone, possibly Tadhg who has the pace to match him. Our backline looks far more solid with Schaubs providing some height . IMO our forward line will give the Freo defence a big headache. The Subi fortress could be the deciding factor . Some pundits believe Freo and the Eagles have a 5 goal advantage at home. We will see.

Fair go on Frosty. The bloke's skills are very good as is his use of the footy. IMO his experience is important - we can't pick every young bloke just for the sack of being young. I agree that he must perform this year to keep his spot on the list, but he needs to be on the park to do that. Thoughts of 20 possessions or he's had it are ridiculous.

I think we should be able to match Freo. It will be a good, close game. Schauble definatley boosts our backline. I don't think Freo have anyone to match BBBBH and they won't dare to play Pavlch on him - will we see the first 10+ goal performance of the year?

I tend to agree with Craig on this one, Frosty is a better player than most would have you believe. True, he had a poor season last year and will definitely need to perform this year. However his 2001 season was very good. He played all 22 games and finished top 10 in the B & F.

Personally I would prefer to see him in a back pocket role where he did so well in 1996. His long and accurate kicking could be a real bonus with regard to defensive 50 clearances, and he could frequently turn defence into attack in such a role. Sunny and Ablett will get their opportunities this season and I'm sure they will do well, but at the same time the value of experience should not be underestimated.

Yes, this is a major weakness for Freo, although the main impediment for lots of goals will be our ability to get it into our forward line regularly and effectively.

we r gonna be seeing a lot of rebound off half back if we have any chance of winning

neither should u underestimate youth... im not a big fan of frosty's and im sick of seeing rookie level players battling with 'experienced' players when their contribution could be similar in the short term. however with the younger players, the experince they gain now will mean that their contribution could become ten fold to what that 'experienced' player could give in the long term

                      imo frosty is past it

sunny on the other hand imo should be given a run, i do agree however on frosty getting a spot this week and if he plays soft he should be straight back to the 2nds and sunny given that spot... we cant harbour these hasbeens any more, we r REBUILDING!

I agree, but I think we will always need that - it's an essential part of our game plan. However, if the opposition midfield is good or their forwards play a good defensive game, then there could be trouble.
