30000 It Must Be The Target

well after an approximete 19% increase in memebrship last year with our 2002 total around 21000 and this years total been around 25000 can we possibly manage to get 30000 odd member on the bandwagon, i mean just imagine how even the SCG would look with and extra 5000, plus does anyone know if they are still keeping that red hat idea, it looks really effective and i encourage all of you to give positive feedback to the club regarding this ides

Doubt we will increase that much - perhaps if our start to 2005 is fantastic or if we get a very high profile player.

The Swans hype machine hasn't been in overdrive this year, can't really see an increase happening.

I do agree with the red hat idea - was fantastic. I sent the club an e-mail after our first SCG game to thank them, they replied by saying the hats had generated some of the most positive feedback ever.

The problem with getting more members is that you're going to end up with probably a smaller crowd at the SCG. For example, if you have 30,000 members, plus however many SCG members, that's much less space available for walk-up and casual buyers. For any given game, you're going to have members who can't turn up, for whatever reason - the chance of all 30,000 being able to attend is practically zero. It's good dollars for the club, but the crowd issue is one of the possible drawbacks.

Also, I'm pretty sure our total membership tally includes melbourne-based members.

Think our Sydney membership is capped at 24 or 26,000? Because of the SCG.

Think our Sydney membership will stay at low 20's, but happy for it to be wrong.

Will be interested to see if there are any different type of packages next year available...

They could go some way to solving that by having more unreserved seating memberships, which is the type of membership I have for the SCG Members area (MA Noble stand).

I agree that the red caps were a great idea and I so hope they keep doing it. They also used the best looking cap style too. Well done Swans Marketing Dept.

The SCG trust set a limit on the number of Swans Membership with Members Reserve entry because of SCG membership and SCG/SFS Gold Members.

(This ensures the SCG members entry when something has been hyped up enough to get them to come )

Yes, and it allow some flexibility with regard to the number of seats they can sell to the public (friends of members) in that area.

I think they should cap the number of reserved seating memberships. I think there is too high a proportion of swans members with reserved seating at the moment because there are always far too many spare seats around the ground where members have not turned up. Have less reserved seats and more memberships to an expanded general admission area.

The Noble stand always looks empty on tv so why not make that area smaller?

The top of the Noble Stand is never empty. The bottom of the 3 members area stands are always the last to fill up. They cant make the members area smaller, because SCG members have paid for the right to be able to get a seat in the members area even if they all turn up. However, they should probably try to sell more Members Reserve Swans memberships to help fill up this area.

IMO it all depends how others will see this season compared with 2003. Miost likely the numbers won't increase. I would say it will stay in low twenties.

When I saw the subject to this thread I thought it meant that the year 30000 should be the Swans target for when to win a championship.

I must admit I think in the MWFL season 30000 will be the "Sedna Eskimos" year. Their home advantage is just too much to overcome.

And that's when the SCG members who can't get a seat get all pissy and complain (eg v Geelong 1997, v Collingwood and the Locket rcord). Its very frustrating that guest tickets to this area often sell out even though there are lots of empty seats (and on a number of occassions has meant that friends wanting to come to the game with me have missed out). The SCG and/or the SFC wont risk the wrath of SCG members missing out on seats.
