    Travis Johnstone

Since we're in the middle of talking about potential trade targets, i think Travis Johnstone would certainly fit our needs

silky fast midfielder who would add alot to our team

also change of environment may have a positive affect on his alleged attitude problems

Also think Zantuck if cheap would be worth a shot, played his best football as a key defender at the Tiges

    No thanks and no thanks

Johnstone is talented but doesn't see to want to put in the work to get the most out of himself - the antithesis of the majority of the Swans players.

Zantuck is a medium defender with some ability to play above his height and weight but not really suited to the key forwards. We're already pretty well stocked in that department so he hardly addresses a critical need of the club.

He is certainly worth the consideration. We are very good at getting the best out of a player. So if a club could get the best out of someone like Johnstone, it could only be us.

Johnstone would be perfect if we could get him to perform regularly. I note that he was listed as a potential for the Swans in the Hun season wrap this morning.

Travis Johnstone and Zantuck both have off-field problems. But I notice yesterday in the Herald Sun's analysis of the Sydney season that they suggested Travis would be a good swap for the #15 pick and Powell.

Johnstone would be well suited to be away from the spotlight that is Melbourne.

I really rate his ability and think with a bit of luck on the injury front he will become a very good player.

Straight swap - Fosdike for Johnstone.

Only seen a little of Travis J but from what Ive seen he seems to play in bursts?

                    Has he had injury problems?

Cam Bruce seems the better option particulary body type, marking and hardness.

                    Cheers

I think a lot of it might be attitude and perhaps fitness. However, when he is on song he can be a matchwinner.

Bruce is certainly harder at it but Johnstone is very damaging when on song. Bruce is safer bet too and thus the ROI will be smaller from the trade ... well, if the trade is turning out OK.

We have a core group of consistent and well-committed players but lack talents. It might be time for us to take a few risks in the trade period. If we are not going to win it with this group of players, what do we have to loose??

If we could get him for pick 15 and Powell it would be a steal

According to the experts outside the top 6 priority picks plus 2 quality father sons (I'm not including Cloke) there are no real standouts so i wouldn't be too disappointed if we trade our first rounder this year

Agreed Bruce would be less risk but I have a feeling that he is after a better deal and will re-sign with the Dees

If he doesn't resign with Melbourne he'll more than likely end up at Collingwood, Richmond or Hawthorn. They have lower draft picks to offer Melbourne and cheaper players who they would add into the deal. I very much doubt we have much chance of getting him.

Let's not forget - Travis Johnstone obviously showed enough to get taken #1
Add to that, his last two years have been below par - therefore his trade value would be lowish
Would be interesting to see how he performs under a new coach - especially one like Roosy, who has a reputation for getting the best out of his players

I agree Bruce is more low risk, but we are a couple of spots back in the queue if he decides to leave the Dees
