    Maxfield to step down??

Over on Bigfooty there are decent rumours flyin around that Stewie is going to step down. I know that BF is the last reliable place for any type of rumour, but is there any chance of this being confirmed?
    - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Stewie said that he'd talk to the club about the captaincy for next year, but it is not definite that he's going to step down. If I was you, I wouldn't care about the rumours on BigFooty. If it does happen, RWO would probably be one of the first to know as soon as it is out in the media.

I think that I read over at the HUN that Stewie was throwing up Goodsy and Kirks name.

I wouldn't mind if he stepped down, I think it would be the right thing to do as he has one more year left tops and could really help out the new captain(Crouchy...)

Do you think the journalist might have confused Leo Barry with Barry Hall? It even says Leo was surprised at the suggestion.

Anyway, the writing has been on the wall for Maxfield's captaincy for quite a while. Given his age, his form is likely to decline and he's probably only in the top 18-22 players anyway.

So, relinquishing the captaincy simply allows him to go again next year, without having the problem of a possible 'mid-season retirement/captain playing in the seconds' fiasco.

I am happy for Maxfield to do what he chooses.

If he wants to stay on, it seems like me is highly regarded within the team and they would be more than happy.

If he wants to step down (for whatever reason) I think it is great to have him help the next captain through the first year and ease him in, and I ecpect our next captain to be a youngy.
              But I could be wrong.
I think that happened once before

A handover period is a good idea - ie: Voss.
