    Player contract terms

I am very curious about the terms that are in player contracts. Not so much the $$, but what sort of incentives, how much is performance based, are contracts fairly standard or do they vary greatly from player to player? How much is base salary/retainer, how much per game played?

    Any clues anyone?

Player contracts must comply with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the AFL and the AFL Players Association. The terms of the CBA are the minimum requirements that must be adhered to by all of the parties to a contract.

The current CBA (in force until 2008) can be downloaded
    here .

I know that there are performance based incentives like making the All Australian Team, polling at least 10 votes in the Brownlow etc. but I would love to know how much they are truely worth.

I wonder how much "extra" Chris Judd got with that little number on his arm at the Brownlow and I am not tlaking about the medal!! That was a mighty fine performance!
      Swannies for life!

That particular benefit was most likely NOT monetary!

If fact he DID say it cost him "a lot of money". I wonder what he meant?
