New stand for SCG!

Yes, I'd agree with your assessment. They need to take on an upgrade of MCG proportions, maybe tear down the Walter, O'Reilly and Messenger stands, add 10-15K seats and improve amenities. If they don't do something like this soon I can see them losing more and more of their cricket and AFL business to Homebush.Originally posted by floppinab
Yeah read this in the Oz today.
My attitude I suspect will be roundly shared, yet another piecemeal attempt by the SCC to improve the situation at the SCG, eating away at the edges rather than try to tackle a decent "whole of ground approach".Comment

This falls way short of what they originally planned. Replacing 4500 seats for 7000 new ones for $52m is a waste of money IMO. Its going to be the most stupid looking ground in the world with the pretty members/ladies stand, the decrepit Noble/Bradman stands, the once-modern but now dated looking O'Reilly and Brewongle and a brand spanking new you beaut of a stand. And don't get me started on the Messenger.Originally posted by floppinab

I dont think it is necessary to increase the capacity of the ground too much. Very rarely does the stadium get filled as it is, and for events that require larger seating capacity, Telstra is available.Visit my eBay store -

I am still dirty at the last SCG "upgrade" where my large roomy seat was replaced by a smaller seat with less legroom which unfortunately coincided with my and my mates weight gain.

its got nothing to do with the quality, its how you use it that counts.Originally posted by Dave
It's not the size, it's the quality that counts so I hear.
I thought we'd established this already Dave!

Bulldoze everything from the Eastern side of the Members stand all the way round to the eastern end of the Churchill Stand, (All these stands are old and decrepid or poorly designed concrete piles of Yukk), And build the Great Eastern Stand that would be bigger and better than the GSS at the mcg
Thats my 2 cents...they call me Dr Worm.....

A shame you can't get it at the SCG. Hmm, the thought of Spotless Catering just has my mouth watering, NOT.Originally posted by Barry Schneider

Still, I'm on a Liteneasy diet. And can't eat all the food! What does that say?

agreed about knocking down everything from the noble to the churchill.
ever tried getting out of the eastern side of the ground when its crowded?
years ago, my uncle, a st kilda supporter from melbourne wrote a letter to the AFL complaining about that side of the ground because it does have the potential to be a safety risk, should something unforeseen cause people to want to leave in a hurry. i tend to agree with this standpoint.
and as for the scg trusts treatment of anything afl over the years, well, ive made that very clear in the past.
no love lost, thats for sure.
