I hope we get the Lions in Rd 1 again....

....they'll most likely have only half a team after the tribunal get thru with them.

Port will be missing a few as well.

hehe written like a true swans fan.

Port would be scarier Round 1 after their flag is unvieled - than Brissie will be...but...

I would have the 3 premierships the Lions had, or the wonderful premiership Port have now with a few players out in Round 1 2005 than be in our position without a premiership in 74 years!!!

(I am getting far too jelous of the real success other clubs have now)

And that is exactly Port's policy in Grand Finals. When John Cahill coached Port in the SANFL, Port came out in the first quarter of Grand Finals and played like murderous thugs to try and totally intimidate the opposition. They didnt care about getting reported and missing games next year because nothing else maters as much as winning a Grand Final. Sydney should do the same, should it get that far. Other fans will hate you for it, but if it wins you a premiership, who cares. And I reckon Port will have more people hating it now than ever before after the way it played yesterday.

We don't get Brisbane or Port. We will play one of the following - WC, Adelaide, Hawthorn, Essendon, Roos, Melbourne or Carlton. We may be lucky and get an early game in Melbourne which would be good for membership numbers. I can't wait for the draw to be released.

its not 74 yrs its less as our last flag was in 1933 and it is now 2004 so it would be more like our 71st yr without a flag next yr
On the 72nd yr the city of Sydney will rejoice in Premiership Glory.

Disagree Cruiser. Most of the reaction to Port's win was of hearty congratulation on Bigfooty.com. People know Port HAVE finally made it and are a side who is to be respected.

I thought Brisbane's cowardly thuggery was a disgrace yesterday. Bloody Brown is the dirtiest player in the game I reckon these days. And Akermanis's constant whinging about not getting frees was pathetic. I'll let Lynch off because it was his last game, but he just lost the plot when attacking Wakelin.

I'm so over the arrogance of the Lions at the moment. Even Mal Michael said that some players were rehearsing their Norm Smith medal speeches in the sheds before the match.

And their supporters, some of the biggest sooks in the game these days. I have not seen more people chuck wobblies than the Lions supporters I saw after we beat them this year. What is the bet half of them will crack the sads and go and follow the Broncos again because they lost.

I don't know why I'm so happy Brisbane got done yesterday.

Well done to Port. A refreshing GF all around. And an awesome open game of footy as well.

Its 72 seasons without a flag now. Which is a VFL/AFL record for the longest wait for a premiership

JF, while Brown and Lynch went off their cruets, I thought that Port were very liberal in their use of knees in packs etc. Apparently C. Cornes punched Brown on his injured knee and was replayed at the time. Went to pour a cuppa for about 10secs and missed it. Be intesesting to see if that comes up on the review.

What mystified me was that Brogan hardly at all went the hitout at centre bounces, but jumped straight into Keating with his knees with no intention of making a contest. He got pinged very early but after that it was just let go. At one contest he pushed him in the chest with both hands.

If I remember correctly they were red hot on that in the 2nd half of the season. I am amazed one of those 2 didn't get a knee injury in the ruck contests.

It will be interesting as that was quite clearly caught on camera, and it's probably worse than a lot of other things that are reported.

That one was paid a free I think.

Worked effectively though as it wore Keating out.

I think you can win games (and flags) without top flight ruckmen, as long as they give a decent contest.

Round 1 2005 will be over Easter, so if the Brisbane Collingwood Thursday night game is to remain on the cards, next season's opener will be the Pies and Lions.
