    Telstra Stadium Survey

A few weeks ago, some of us received online surveys to do re the SCG and there was a few pages of questions plus space to write more to which I completely bagged Telstra Stadium. Well I got a survey for Telstra Stadium today and there was only 6 questions. What gives?

What sort of questions were they asking?

It was pretty much the same questions they asked previously on the SCG. Basically my understanding was theis survey on Telstra was an addition to the original survey which really should have been in there to begin with, and I'd guess with comments and the like tyhey figured they'd better take the pulse on the members' attitudes to Telstra.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

The feeling of a 'home' ground at Telstra Stadium
The standard of facilities at Telstra Stadium
The ease of getting to Telstra Stadium
How 'family friendly' the venue is
Overall, how satisfied are you with the facilities at Telstra Stadium?

        For each question a 0 - 10 response
        0 being Extremely Disatisfied

Telstra Stadium as a place to watch football
Really poor sight lines from the upper level of the stands (ie most of the seats); probably the worst view of any AFL ground.

The feeling of a 'home' ground at Telstra Stadium
Absolute dud, unless completely sold out.

The standard of facilities at Telstra Stadium
OK, except when sold out. The facilities/staff training/infrastructure struggle once there is more than 50,000 in the crowd.

The ease of getting to Telstra Stadium
Difficult and expensive (from the St. George area)

How 'family friendly' the venue is
          Dunno N/A for me.

Overall, how satisfied are you with the facilities at Telstra Stadium?
The absolute WORST place to watch a game of footy at of any ground in the AFL; am prepared to put up with the joint for a few "blockbuster" type matches a year if it benefits the club.

I think the ground isn't too bad - but I get annoyed that some of the members (if not all?) are piled into the north western side of the ground - where if you try to sit on the as close as you can on the wing of the ground, you can't see the action on the closest wing to you.

Telstra will take more than a couple of years to feel like home. Give it time...

The facilitities of Telstra are probably better than the SCG. Easier and quicker to get a beer - more outlets and better designed.

Telstra can be a bugger to get in and out from - but it has to be far better than the SCG for 90% of the punters. SCG is a nightmare to get out of especially if there is over 30000. Took me two and a half hours after the st kilda match and I went to the postmatch function!

I am reasonable satisfied - tho I would be more impressed if some 'priority was given for members in terms of seating.

[B]Telstra Stadium as a place to watch football
Great if you arent high up on the top decks which are only opened for 40K+ crowds.

The feeling of a 'home' ground at Telstra Stadium
Very much. Its the only ground I go to now days.

The standard of facilities at Telstra Stadium
Good. Behind the goals could use more food/drink outlets. But much better than SCG.

The ease of getting to Telstra Stadium
Very easy. Take the car or train.
(Although the amount of "track work" during game days is disappointing)

How 'family friendly' the venue is
              Good

Overall, how satisfied are you with the facilities at Telstra Stadium?
Great place to watch footy. Now that they only open up the top decks for really big crowds the atmosphere is good.
              Makes the SCG look dated.

I'm a huge fan of Telstra Stadium myself. I love watching footy there. I answered mostly 10's in my survey response. I'd be happy for the Swans to one day play all games there (so long as we drew minumum 35,000 crowds).

I would only support a move to Telstra full time if our lowest crowds were around 50,000 or if the SCG Trust didn't give us a good deal. (Always happy to support best interests of the club when it comes to that type of stuff)

Other than that, I find Telstra an average ground in the middle of concrete desert.

The SCG view I have and facilities are the best. Never had a problem where I have sat for years and years.

Telstra Stadium as a place to watch football
I may be one of the lucky ones, but I have great seats

The feeling of a 'home' ground at Telstra Stadium
Uniquely Sydney, and I feel the side are getting better and better playing there

The standard of facilities at Telstra Stadium
Light years ahead of the SCG. Beer and food lines are much quicker than SCG and food options in the tents in the precinct are awesome. Inside the venue is better than SCG as are toilet facilities

The ease of getting to Telstra Stadium
Bus from the Shire. Normally 45-50 mins, not much difference from driving. Much easier to get to than the SCG for me

How 'family friendly' the venue is
Good although hard to compare as all TS matches are night games.

Overall, how satisfied are you with the facilities at Telstra Stadium?
I love the venue. It is far superior to the SCG. I find the atmosphere at least as good as the SCGs, which can be a bit like a morgue to be honest these days.

As I started this you may as well know my answers.
And the highest I scored any point was 2
Telstra Stadium as a place to watch football
To far away is my point. At the SCG if I am without the family I am upstairs front row of the Noble behind the post, close to the game and where I can bang the boards. Now can someone tell me at Telstra Stadium I can get that close and that high?

The feeling of a 'home' ground at Telstra Stadium
The lack of a members area does not make this feel like a home ground for me. Also the number of blowins that Telstra Stadium seems to attract. The lack of anything Swans related at Telstra Stadium. At least in the Noble stand they have some Swans pictures from years gone by (Of course the most recent is probablt 5-7 years old). With the noise, when the SCG crowd is going off it does seem so much louder to me.

The standard of facilities at Telstra Stadium
The toilets are the only feature worth talking about. The food at both is crap but a meat pie is a meat pie. The beer - Tooheys - its a good thing I bring in a hip flask of Stones Ginger Wine . Also the beer queues - people are idiots the amount of times I get abused for pushing in when the bar staff have lined up 100 beers but yet we wait in a queue. Also turning the beer taps off 10 minutes into the last quater and watching the staff poor the left overs out. Also no members facilities. I like meeting other fans in the Noble stand after the game - cant do that at Telstra Stadium.

The ease of getting to Telstra Stadium
Well I live in St Peters so I can walk/ride my bike to the SCG and back and it does not matter if I have the family or not. Telstra Stadium two trains and I can't have a beer/chat after incase I miss the last train.

How 'family friendly' the venue is
Well when you have a two year old (or younger), a pram is a required piece of equipment to sit them down in and to stop them moving around. At the SCG no probs roll the pram in. At Telstra Stadium no prams allowed. So basically you spend two hours chasing a small child.

Overall, how satisfied are you with the facilities at Telstra Stadium?
If they had a specific members area, served decent beer, allowed prams and the last train was say 12.30 then I may change my mind

hee hee... more agendas being pushed...

It's a very good stadium in the heart of Sydney and we are very lucky to have an opportunity to play there.

You can't have broad acceptance of the Swans across Sydney and hence better prime time TV exposure, etc without getting out of the 'niche' Eastern suburbs/Northe Shore market and promoting the team to the masses.

                        Forget the personal agendas.

I'll have to keep an eye out for a person banging the boards near me in the front row behind the goals at the MA Noble. I agree that the front of the MA Noble is a great place to sit IF you get there early enough to grab one of those seats. Get there too late and you may end up spending the entire game trying to watch the match around a big, ugly column. No such visual obstacles at Telstra where it seems to me that most seats are good seats unless its a big crowd and you're up in the nosebleeds.

That was only for the WC final. For H&A games a lot of members have their reserved seats on level 6 on the eastern side so that will always be open.
