LOL - Brisbane have found ways to beat teams before! But I hope you are right.

I am actually worried about Hawthorn Round 1.

New coaches typically have teams that finished low the year prior ready, fit and primed for Round 1.....

Last year in rd 1 Brisbane had no Brown or Lynch. I don't think we'll see the same complacency from the Lions this year. Anyone would think they're potential wooden spooners the way some people have been talking!

I like your optimism but I'll wait until I see who lines up for Sydney that game. A lot can happen to our squad between now and then.

Every side is a potential wooden spooner at the start of a new season.

I don't think Brisbane really were at the beginning of 2004...

Exactly, and for some reason O'Loughlin, Ball and a few others are never fit for the opening round to the season - which has me absolutely, positively rattled ( read: confused ) considering that the medical staff have 4-5 months to get the post season injuries up to date before the following season starts proper !!!

              ACL are excused, of course.

Don't forget though that some players have delayed starts to the pre-season due to end of season surgery, meaning their fitness is not up to scratch, and others suffer injuries during the pre-season, with the same result.

I have never forgotten that Mike, although it seems that the Swans are behind the eight ball in post-season injury management compared to the majority of AFL clubs, who invariably have there 10-12 key players raring to go whereas the Swans seem to have 3-4 of there 10-12 key players on the sidelines or seriously underdone when Round 1 of the following season comes upon us.

Might have something to do with some of the better teams being able to look after their injured players better throughout the season - rest them rather than having to make do and play them through injuries due to a lack of options.

come on, someone had to do it:

Port Adelaide (well, had to pick some team) is guaranteed to beat Sydney in the grand final next year.

Hope that doesnt mean we'll end up with the wooden spoon

Everything is possible. People starting to pencil down wins for next year already could mean only one thing. Have a guess... Pathetic.

                              A guaranteed win against Brisbane?

How quickly people manage to lose respect. It was only a week ago that they were seen as the greatest team of all time. At this stage, only three players will be missing from that greatest team of all time, but that is enough to make them guaranteed losers?!?

                              I doubt it.
