Cats, Tigers agree on Ottens deal

Cats, Tigers agree on Ottens deal

In a dramatic day of wheeling and dealing, Geelong thought they had earlier secured Ottens in a trade involving Jolly and pick No. 12 going from Melbourne to Carlton in exchange for the Blues No. 9 pick.

The Demons would then on-trade No. 9 to the Cats for Moloney who would send that pick and No. 16 to the Tigers.

But that deal was trumped by the Swans using their first-round pick to get Jolly.

But that implies that we outbid moving up 3 draft places (from 12 to 9) with our first round pick. Seems like quite a significant gazump.

Are we sure there wasn't something else thrown in with Jolly - like another pick?

The strategy used by Sydney, not only to get Jolly but also to spoil Geelong's deal for Ottens, suggest that Sydney hasn't yet given up on securing Ottens. Today will be very interesting.

If we get Ottens, they'll be no more complaining about Sydney's lack of height.

I'm a bit surprised we didn't get a lower pick in return. Are the Demons selecting a father-son this year?

Damn. I was still hoping we'd get him. Geelong will likely be a very good team next year, possibly good enough to go all the way.
