    Draft picks 31, 47 ,63

It seems then what is left in the wash up are draft picks 31,47,63 and possibly 79.

The recruiting team certainly has a difficult job this year in finding something of value in a draft that is being described as very short of talent.

Perhaps after all the culling from Clubs is completed there may be a player on that list that might prove handy but in light of such recruiting in previous years its highly unlikely.

There could also be a repeat of last year when our on player(s) are re-picked in the draft.

Draft day this year will be a bit of a non event for us unless there are three smokies hidden away in the recruiting cupboard.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Pick 31 is rather auspicious given that's Kirkie's number.

Bas, they say every year that the draft is short on talent, crap. Those in the know say that there is plenty of quality around, it's just a matter of picking the right one who will go the next step.

Not easy, yes, but they are out there, even players that missed on previous drafts. Bloke from Carlton reminded me this week of a bloke called Lee Treeby from 2/3 years ago who was best player for Glenelg in the finals. They got trounced in the GF but he was a shining light.

You just don't know who will bob up come draft time.

Former Pick 31's include Simon Black, Paul Chapman and Jess Sinclair.

Former Pick 47's include Brent Harvey, Brett Montgomery, Corey Enright and Andrew Welsh.

Former Pick 63's include Marc Bullen and Adam Houlihan.

All totally irrelevant of course, but if NMW can be bored @@@@less, so can I.

i agree. i believe that smaller players tend to display their true potential at draft age, so if your picks are low it's worth a punt on a tall guy who's still getting his body together.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

                    Pick 15

                    2003: Troy Chaplin (Port)
                    2002: Nick Smith (Melb)
                    2001: Barry Brooks (Port)
                    2000: Simon Wiggins (Carl)
                    1999: David Spriggs (Geel)
                    1998: Brady Rawlings (Roos)
                    1997: Joel McKay (Geel)
                    1996: Max Hudghton (St K)
                    1995: Darren Wheildon (Ess)
                    1994: Scott Camporeale (Carl)

Camporeale the standout there, but lets not forget, the 1994 draft is still rated as one of the best of all time

Rawlings and Hudghton the only other names of note in there

They should use one draft pick to bring McGlone back. And I agree re using the rest for some talls.
