Yup, Saddo played wing for his first couple of years here at least.

I kind of like the idea of Saddo on one wing and Goodes on the other with Kennelly and Davis rotating through to give an extra bit of trouble.

I just have to wonder if that would make us one of the slowest midfields in the competition.

Well, we do have one of the slowest midfield anyway. May as well play to our strengths. I would guess that it would be easier to match up on Ablett and Mathews than Saddo and Goodes. And perhaps having some height in the midfield might give the players a bit of confidence to actually KICK the ball.

            Not at all.

I would have ROK before Saddo anyday. However Saddo would be more likely to take a taller/larger defender than ROK.

I think a forward line of:

            Schneider Hall O'Laughlin
            O'Keefe Saddington Davis

            would be excellent.

The point being the 3 best defenders would go to Hall, Mick and Saddo.

You better watch what you say about ROK in this forum...he has a few VERY attatched fans that would tear you a new one if they thought you were degreading their superstar!

Are you kidding? Or do you watch a different team to the one I watch. I reckon we have one of the faster midfields going around and we need it for our game plan - to carry the ball and break the lines.

West Coast may well have a speedier midfield and probably Port too. Geelong may do, while Melbourne would possibly be on a par with ours. I doubt many others would match ours speedwise, player for player.

Bear in mind, though, that speed of foot does not always translate into speed of transference of the ball and those with fast brains and fast hands(eg Simon Black, Greg Williams) can more than make up for a lack of pure foot speed, while a player can be as quick as anything but still not be a good AFL player (think Rhyce Shaw, for example).

I think everything just seems slower when Benny Mathews is involved.

'Ere . . . this thread is for bagging Saddington!

If you want to bag Mathews, get your own thread.

                      Bagging...?

So it's now off limits to discuss where we think someone should play...

                          Saddo.

                          Leave the poor bastard alone.

Not fair to compare him with Luffy. At least he hasn't been delisted and then redrafted. And I am not knocking Luffy.

Oh, everything is off limits to you! It's all about "well sonny, in my day we didn't say such things and you young whppersnappers knew your place..."

Never feel guilty. I have had trouble with the hair today though, very windy, but not nearly the trouble that Saddo looks to have week in, week out!!

The thread was suggesting that Saddo is at the crossroads and a move to the forward line could do wonders for him ala Leo Barry moving to the backline.
